Chapter 12
“It’s so nice that my brother has actually talked to another girl, I was getting worried,” Olivia admitted to me as she was painting my toes an atrocious hot pink.
I scoffed, “If that’s what you call talking. Olivia are you sure this color will look good?
“Please, for Mason that’s basically flirting,” she continued on saying, ignoring my previous question. Wait! Flirting? My mouth dropped in contempt. Olivia let out a chuckle. “I’m just kidding…or am I.”
I sarcastically let out a laugh. “You are so funny.”
“I know, and you are all done.”
I looked down and I guessed it looked okay. I put my wet feet on the floor and heard somebody coming down stairs.
“Hey, foxy ladies?” Nathan plopped himself in the middle of us and snaked hands around our shoulders. Olivia laid her head on his shoulder and cuddled toward him. He didn’t eve seem to notice but if Mason noticed this then his balls would be stuffed down his throat. Olivia was extremely touchy feely with Nathan, an observation that I quickly learned as she came over more and more. I raised my eyebrow at Olivia and she winked at me. “Oh, Mason told me to tell you to get your ass ready for work.” I rolled my eyes, knowing that his message was a direct quote from Mason.
“Of course, why can’t he just ask nicely?” I wasn’t sure if they could hear me because they were now wrapped up in another conversation.
“Nathan, can we go shopping?” Olivia begged.
“No, I don’t feel like shopping,” Nathan whined. Good luck getting him to go shopping, I thought. I tried it and he said he would rather die. I turned to walk upstairs when I caught Olivia placing her hand on Nathans thigh. My eyes widened. What does she think she is doing? I waited behind the wall that separated the living room to watch.
“Pretty, please. I just need somebody to carry my bags.” Olivia batted her eyes and twirled Nathan’s hair.
“Fine.” She was good and for her last final act in her skill of flirtation and to my utter astonishment she placed a kiss on Nathan’s lips. No, no, no. Don’t kiss her back, Mason will kill you. All these thoughts swam through my mind as Nathan kissed her back. I decided to leave and not tell Mason until I interrogated one of them. I hoped that kiss was just an accident.
I hopped up the stairs to put on my shoes and to find Mason. I entered his room, his record player was playing Eleanor Rigby by the Beatles and he was struggling with his black tie for his black shirt.
“You know you don’t match very well. Black shirt with black tie,” I pointed out.
“Well, I’m sorry I’m not Noel and know how to color block or coordinate outfits.”
I giggled at the sound of him using fashion lingo. “At least you know what color blocking is.” He let out a frustrated sigh. Tired of seeing him fumbling I decided to help him out. “Let me tie it for you.” I tied his tie, although it took me some time because of my brace that was still on my wrist.
As I straighten out his tie, he asked, “How’s your wrist?”
Surprised with his concern, I awkwardly replied, “Oh, that. I went to that free clinic and they said that it was just a fracture and I should be able to take it off Sunday.”
