Spottedleaf's Madness

Chapter 4

               A few days later, Spottedpaw and Thistleclaw were back in camp from a hunting patrol. They saw Tawnyspots, the deputy, pass by them, along with a huge cough.
               Spottedpaw wasn't concerned for him. "He's going to die any day now, and when he does, Thistleclaw is going to be made deputy!" Spottedpaw thought.
               Spottedpaw and Thistleclaw dumped their prey into the fresh kill pile. They padded to the clearing and laid down, sharing tongues.

               It was moon-fall and Thistleclaw and Spottedpaw were curled around each other in the clearing.
               Suddenly there was a yowl from the nursery as Spottedpaw and Thistleclaw woke up in alarm.
               "What was that? Is someone kitting?" Spottedpaw thought.
               Bluefur suddenly charged out of the nursery as half the clan started to wake up.
               "They're gone! My kits are gone!" Bluefur yowled.
               Everyone murmured in alarm. Spottedpaw rushed into the nursery and saw a hole in the wall.
               "What in Starclan?" Spottedpaw thought.
               "Search the camp for Bluefur's kits!" Spottedpaw heard Sunstar order.
               They looked everywhere. They even looked outside to camp to see if they sneaked out of camp.
               "I'm so sorry, Bluefur. But we looked everywhere. I think a badger might've taken them." Sunstar mewed, running his tail down Bluefur's spine.
                Spottedpaw actually felt pity for once for Bluefur. She looked into Bluefur's eyes. She saw Bluefur glance towards Thrushpelt, who nodded to her.
                Spottedpaw tilted her head. "What the..." she thought.
                Spottedpaw saw pity in Sunstar's amber eyes. He glanced at Tawnyspots. Tawnyspots dipped his head to him.
                Spottedpaw wondered what thoughts the two toms were sharing. The two toms both looked at Bluefur. That's when something snapped in Spottedpaw.
                "Thistleclaw won't be made deputy, will he? Sunstar is going to choose Bluefur as his deputy, won't he?" Spottedpaw thought. She sighed.
