It's been 1 moon since she talked to Goosefeather. And it's been a half moon since Featherwhisker died of greencough. Spottedleaf tried to save him, but she knew that no cat could cure greencough.
Spottedleaf was tending to Mousefur's wounds as she put a spider web on her leg. She looked outside the den and saw Bluestar staring at the sky.
Spottedleaf sighed. "What is she thinking about NOW?" Spottedleaf thought with annoyance as she padded up to Bluestar.
"How's Mousefur?" Bluestar mewed. "Her wounds are deep, but she's young and fresh from apprenticeship. She'll recover from her wounds." Spottedleaf mewed. "She's not going to die from a bleeding leg, mouse-brain." Spottedleaf thought with annoyance.
Bluestar sighed with relief. "You are a gifted medicine cat. The Clan is lucky to have you." Bluestar mewed. She looked up at the sky. "Tonight's defeat has deeply troubled me. We haven't lost battles like this since I became leader." Bluestar mewed.
"Maybe. Are you finding answers from Starclan?" Spottedleaf asked. Bluestar nodded. "At times like these, I need the advice of our ancestors. Have you received any prophecy yet?" Bluestar mewed.
Spottedleaf was about to tell Bluestar about her talk with Goosefeather, but she sworn to herself that she must keep it as a secret. So Spottedleaf shook her head. "Not for some time, Bluestar." she mewed.
Suddenly, something pierced in her mind as she looked at a shooting star. She saw the flames of the shooting star and an outline of an orange tabby tom. "Fire alone will save our Clan..." the words echoed in her mind.
Spottedleaf looked at Bluestar and saw her with a look of curiosity. "Are you okay?" Bluestar mewed. Spottedleaf nodded. "It was a prophecy sent by Starclan." Spottedleaf mewed.
Bluestar stared at her more urgently. "What was the prophecy?" she mewed in a serious voice.
Spottedleaf stared at her for a moment before looking at the stars. "Fire alone can save our Clan." she mewed.
"Fire? But the Clans fear fire? How can something so furious save us from blood and claws?" Bluestar mewed.
"I don't know. But that was what Starclan sent me." Spottedleaf mewed.
Bluestar stared at her for a moment, then sighed. "You are never wrong. If it was a sign from Starclan, then I believe it. Fire will save us all." Bluestar mewed before looking at the stars.
"Fire alone can save our Clan..." the prophecy echoed in Spottedleaf's mind. "What could the prophecy mean?" she thought.
