Malachi's pov
It was the weekend and I looked forward to catching some sleep, and as planned I overslept into the afternoon. It felt great to finally get rest, and with that out of the way, I decided I wanted to go out and enjoy the day.
I was surprised that Kalila went out her way to come and sit by me. I was nervous however because of my tired state. I didn't want to look dumb in front of her. I strolled down the sidewalk minding my own business and whistling. There was a guy on his lawnmower cutting grass. He done a slight wave at me and I returned it. I didn't like loud humming noises like the sound of the lawnmower so I walked alittle faster. I plan on hanging out at the arcade and playing some games. I expected nothing really interesting to happen not until I bumped into a certain someone. I met her around the restaurant I was almost there to the arcade when I had ran into her in doing so, she dropped her bag. "I'm sorry miss-" but when I looked up Kalila was on the ground" I didn't hesitate to help her up. I hope she didn't notice how much I was shaking. "Malachi what a coincidence haha how are you?" "Oh um I'm doing pretty good you?" "Ok I guess, how is your resting going? You feeling better?" I shrugged. "It wasn't as bad as before the feeling of being watched only lasted a moment, so I guess I'm good for now." I saw Kalila glance down looking quite worried for a minute. I felt a little tingly inside. Is she worried about me? No I don't think so. why would she be so worried about someone whose invisible? I began to feel glum inside. "Well you know the reason why this was a coincidence was because I was just going to hang out with you." My insides just done a front flip- if that was even possible. A party must have been going on in my heart because it thumped like crazy. My face turned a bright red and I knew it just by feeling the heat on my cheeks. Turning away, I muttered something causing her to ask would it be ok. "YES!" I shouted causing her to jump. "I mean sure, whatever you want." I chuckled nervously. Malachi you idiot, why did you have to overreact like that?! Kalila said she wanted to hang out at the park and just talk about things I told her it would be fine with me. Though, I really wanted to do more than talk I wanted it to be like an actual date, but I kept reminding myself that no, this was not. It was disappointing but better than nothing. Definitely better than nothing. We started strolling down the sidewalk heading left. I was glad the walk was slow so I could take time and just look at her as she spoke with her soft kind voice. When she talked to me its like we've known each other for a long time. She always had another subject to talk about and listened intently as I spoke. i felt special on the inside like someone actually listened to me for once. as we reached the park she suggested that we should go to the swings since that was her favorite thing to do at the park.
"would you like me to push you-I mean if that's what you want me to do, or you could just swing yourself." I lowered my tone being somewhat shy about it. "Sure just let me get on first." She replied and sat in the swing. She waited anxiously as I stepped behind and started gently pushing and she gradually got higher. I heard her sweet giggle as she swung high in the air. Her dark hair blew as she reached up higher and higher making her look dramatic. It was like everything was in slow motion and I took in every bit of it. The best day I ever had was just today and I wished I could rewind it all over again just to see her smile, laugh, talk, I couldn't have had it any other way. The whole day was spent at the park and it was getting dusk already. Time flew by when you were happy and having fun, but I couldn't help wondering why she would want to spend time with me of all people. It was nice, but it felt at the same time weird, so I just had to ask. As we swung while talking I waited until she finished. "Hey Kalila, I was just wondering, why would you hang out with me I mean you could be hanging out with Carlos or any other guy right now."
Kalila's pov
I was taken aback for a moment. I didn't know what to say to him after that comment. I could tell Malachi was suspicious. If I was in his shoes I would probably be asking the same thing. I couldn't think of a possible reason to hang out with him. The real reason was because he was the chosen to have the ultimate seal to destroy the Betslel. That was really the only reason I wouldn't mind talking to him or anything, but for me just asking him to hang out like that. Come on Kalila, think of something! I thought in my head. I didn't want to cause like an awkward silence so since I couldn't think of anything I blurted out. "Well you know I figured it would be the most friendly thing to do. I see you at school and your always alone and stuff, and so I felt bad it wouldn't hurt to just hang out you know like a good friend would. I couldn't read his expression after that. was he mad at me? I couldn't tell his face was kind of blank at first. I felt a tinge of nervousness rise in my stomach fearing I had said the wrong thing I bit my lip.

I kind of figured she would be doing something like this just out of niceness. I should've known I mean I knew she wouldn't have liked me back or just today she felt she wanted to like me or something. She looked pretty tensed. I saw her bite her lip. "Oh that's cool then, thanks." I told her "Good." she said happily getting out of the swing. She then reached out her hand. I took her hand as she helped me out of the swing. "So, do you want to do anything else before we go?" she asked. "Not really, I can't really think of anything." "Hmm well I guess we could go home then." Feeling sad that this would probably be the last time she would hang out with me I agreed anyway, but at least we took our time and didn't hurry home.
Taking slow steps we said somewhat little words on our way. I wished we had more to say before we got to her house I don't want to waste anytime with anything. Kalila has been looking like she has been trying tell me something but is withholding herself for some reason. It bugged me and I was curious also so I asked her what was wrong. She kind of shrugged and done a nervous laugh but that made me curious even more. My gut was beginning to twist in excitement. Is she nervous about asking me? I had to push that away because it couldn't be, but still....
Kalila's pov
I promised myself that I would tell him about it but its just so frustrating! I can't muster the courage to tell him without feeling as if he will think I am crazy. I could feel the words on the edge of my throat but I didn't want them to come out. I was so scared. I turned my head to him and saw he was eyeing me closely. He looked worried. I stopped abruptly staring at the ground. "Is everything ok Kalila?" he questioned. "Malachi, I have to tell you something..." "What is it-" "Please don't think I'm crazy, please don't but you have to understand, everything is true ok?" "Um-ok?" he said confused. I paused and took a deep breathe at the same time I watched across the street and looked all around as if afraid anyone might hear me. The sky was purple with a mixed of orange and the cold chilly air blew against my skin. The words I have been wanting to say slowly came out all the while I watched his expression as I told him. "Please believe me Malachi...." I said in an almost whisper. "Woah woah woah, you say I am the chosen to stop these "Creatures" to save the world or something?" "It sounds cheesy I know but yes, and I am your guardian." He paced around as if thinking to himself and then stopped in front of me. "I knew you would think I was crazy." I said almost tearing up. I was on the brink of stomping off until a certain presence stopped me from doing so. A certain presence that was not welcomed at all. It grew undoubtedly cold, and I knew it was a warning sign. Malachi was able to feel it too and questioned what was going on. "I knew it-I knew they were going to try to do something." I said "Kalila is this a joke or something? did your friends or Carlos put you up to this to get a reaction out of me?!" He yelled out in anger. As I turned around a dark ghost like monster appeared almost looking like a reaper. Betsalel. "Does that look like a prank to you!" I shouted back I as I took a couple of steps backwards. Malachi was frozen in place. "Malachi I want you to run, I'll handle this." "But you'll get hurt-" "No I won't, I can handle just run. Malachi Looked at me dumbly. "GO!" he sprinted forward, as soon as he did the Betsalel went past me and went after Malachi. "NO!" I followed quickly. There was no way I was going to let the chosen die. I ran as fast as I could. Betsalel had a weak point usually a red spot would show up and glow but I didn't see any. Malachi was heading in some random direction I didn't know of, but I didn't care. As long as we came to a place where there wasn't many buildings and things we be ok and draw much less attention. The Betsalel cut through a wall as soon as Malachi had turned. "Using your cheap tricks huh-well not on my watch." I outstretched my hand "GAFNA!"
