I ended up running down a hallway that was adjacent from the one my math was in. My breathing was rapid and unsteady again. I could feel my heart hammering against my chest when I finally stopped. I leaned my head back on the wall, looking up at the ceiling. That crazy surge of energy I felt finally settled.
A water fountain was nearby and I walked over to it. I pushed the button and the cold water splashed in my face. It felt refreshing and even more when I took a long drink from it. The water made me calm down even more.
"Excuse me!" I heard some shout. I turned around to see a line of people waiting to get a drink. I wiped my mouth off using the sleeve of my shirt.
"Sorry." I felt like I've said that more than usual today. The guy rolled his eyes and pushed me out the way. The other students stared at me like I was some kind of freak.
I walked back towards the direction of my classroom, ignoring them. I could hear Mr. Brooks' voice echo out into the hall. He was going over the syllabus. I took a deep breath and stepped back inside. He stopped when I re-entered.
"Nice of you to rejoin us Ms. Waverly. I hope you're alright." He said as he handed me a syllabus.
"I got anxious...had a little panic attack." I told him.
"We will talk about that at the end of class. Get to your seat until then." He smiled a bit.
I just nodded and walked towards my desk. I kept myself calm, holding tightly onto the syllabus as I did. I sat down slowly into the chair, flipping to the page Mr. Brooks was on. When I looked over at the desk those two guys were at, Ski was there but not Jahseh.
I looked back down at the syllabus, doodling a bit as the teacher spoke. Next thing you know it, the bell rung. "Remember, bring in a notebook, calculator and some pencils. We will start our first unit tomorrow. Be prepared. Bonus points will be given out to those prepared." Mr. Brooks gave us a thumbs up.
Everyone just gathered their belongings and filed out of the room. As I got out a folder to place the syllabus inside, Mr. Brooks walked towards me.
"Now you missed quite a bit when you ran out of the classroom."
"I apologize. My panic attacks come at random sometimes."
"Do you see someone about that? Like a counselor or a therapist?" He looked at me, while pushing his glasses off the bridge of his nose.
"No. They didn't happen quite often." Mr Brooks nodded, then wrote down a small note on the edge of my syllabus.
"Go see Ms. Brandy, she's our school guidance counselor."
"Um. Alright but I assure you, it's just first day jitters."
"That's what they all say Ms. Waverly. I'm just looking out for my students. You seemed rattled when you left out of here. "
"Thanks for your concern. I'll stop by her office then."
Mr.Brooks gave me a reassuring smile. He then went to his desk and prepared some more syllabus for his next class. I walked out of the room, back into the busy hallway. My next class was Chemistry.

By 12:30 it was time for lunch. My stomach growled a little bit but I wasn't hungry. They were serving what looked like mystery meat. But they called it sloppy joe. I looked around the cafeteria for Sedona.
"Calypso!" I heard her voice. She was sitting by the window. I smiled and walked over to the table she was at.
"Finally, the days almost over." I said, letting out a huge sigh of relief.
