A/N: this is a response to a recent page that Typical_Assassin had done on his book of opinions and ideas.
Now, before anyone wonders anything. While I'm personally not really fond of his opinions on male readers (Though, that's only because a small part of me thinks he's referring to everyone who does male reader stories) I don't have personal agendas against him. I just think there are some things in this I need to give my own response to. Though I will admit, I will get a little bitching at something near the end.
And to why I couldn't have just done it in the comments, It would have been harder as I would haft to have kept going back and fourth out of the comments to type then copy everything I typed so for so I could exit the comments to look at everything else he wrote to then paste said words I had down so far and then rinse and repeat til I was finally done. On a page, I could do both.
Anyway, time to get started.
1. Being a bit nitpicky with the first two things here, but the top image and the first (which I will bring up in a bit) you have seriously aren't proper ways to start off. I mean yes, I get it's probably your own little slice of comedy and maybe a few others. But, I just think there will be those group of people who might get either, offended, annoying, pissed off, or all of the above.
2. Not trying to call you a Liar, but considering that your first sentence is literally: *Sips coffee while surrounded by dead (Y/N)s from every Male Reader Story that has ever existed* Hello there. I really have high doubts on that.
3. While I do agree with you that there are people who do that. Those are only some out of most people who do that. It's either that they need ways to try and have the reader get the girl (I could go through more detailed ways on what I mean, but I don't want this dragging), they just don't like the main male protagonist, or they want to do something different to try out rather than the original story. Some people are interested in seeing how the original story would differ if certain things happened. That's why we have things such as What If.
4. I won't deny it, yes there are a lot of harem stories. I have those as well. However, I do think that you should at least say some male reader writers rather than just simple male readers as if you think that's what every single person who does a male reader story does that when I'm sorry but no. That's just flat out incorrect as there are story that give explanation or even build up to the character developing feelings for. Also, I think it would also have to do with what either happens or what the tone of the story is. If it's something like mind control, then those are other things to complain about.
5. now for the harem thing. There are a lot. But, that's just either sometimes it is for most people for they either let people make decisions or they pick themselves. Then there are cases where they put their male reader in the role of the original male character who has said harem in whatever series. Then there's the other case on just on how serious you're suppose to even be taking the story at all. Like my 21 story for example. It has a ridiculous plot with the main character having a reason to form a harem for herself. But it's not in any way meant to be taken seriously in the slightest. Then there's also where they just like all the said characters and they want to have the reader get with all of them rather than one of them.
6. the opness is something that is done a lot by some. However, this is not the case with all since sometimes, the persons power is either depleted, they're either dealing with a far stronger foe, they've been weakened, or they're suppressing/holding back to avoid casing too much damage and destruction and risk hurting the ones they care for or even risk killing the villain if that's what they don't want to do.
7. I don't know what stories you're talking about that has the male reader knowing just about everything the villain is going to do. But, if I'm to give anything, I would haft to give that they either have a long history with the villain established in the story, they either heard about the possible plan through one of said villain's minions or other sources, or it's either just out of being a hunch for convenience.
8. The hate comments on the male protagonist are either people who just simply don't like the said male protagonist. That's just something you're gonna haft to deal with.
Now this is the part I bring up where I get a little bitchy.
In conclusion based on observations and logic, most male readers writers dislikes canon plot and the male reader hate male canon characters and only read the writers stories to satisfy their fantasies of their waifus.
You know, Typical_Assassin, as I've said before, there is a thing called What if. It means like what if this happened in the story instead of that which happened in the original version. Sometimes people who do male readers story like to do that sometimes instead of just doing the original story with another character added in.
In many of the stories I've read, I haven't read it where the male reader hates the main male protagonist unless it was either tense between them that could be through multiple examples, one did something that pissed off the other or something else.
Also, that's for possible making someone feel insecure about themselves. Even if that was entirely true, why the hell should that be a problem? They can enjoy reading a story that involves their favorite female character if they want to. Whether if it's for their desires that you talk about or not. Hell, they could also be reading it just to be interested in what's going on in general too you know.
Anyway, that's all I need to give on this. While you did make some points. There are things that I personally think you were wrong on. And while I was kinda annoyed by the last thing at the end, this is still just an opinion. It's not something everyone has to agree on or anything.
I didn't make this to change your mind, I only made this because that while it was your opinion, I felt as if you were being unfair to many male reader writers. Especially ones who actually do very good stories or writing. Saying that hate canon because they write these stories don't always work especially when the events can either sometimes be the same or the person who does the story even actually likes the original story but just want to try something different.
That's all I need to give on this. I'll have a page up in a bit for everyone else who just wants to ignore this.
