Ethan went to work after his last day of family leave. Alex had gotten better about crying but not Emily. She cried for hours and hours. Alex loved watching and listening to things. Birds outside, the dishwasher, he was always interested.

Emily liked being held. She always wanted to be in someone's arms. If she wasn't she cried. The only time she didn't cry other than not being held was when she was asleep.

I found out I couldn't produce so I had Riley watch over them while I ran out to go get formula. I told her all she had to do was hold Emily and set up Alex around a noise of some sort.

I rushed into Target, not wanting to make Riley wait too long. I grabbed a few extra clothes that I couldn't help getting, along with the formula. I also snatched more diapers. I paid and quickly got home.

Riley was holding Emily, cooeing at her and holding her tiny hand. I heard Emily laughing, her laugh melted my heart. I looked over and saw Alex in his moved crib by the window.

"That's the first time she's laughed." I say happily as I set down everything. I start warming up some water and putting the formula into bottles. "Now," I say shaking the bottles and checking their temperature, "who do you want to feed?" Riley grabbed a bottle and started feeding Emily. I grabbed Alex and plopped on the couch next her. We chatted as they ate, she handed Emily to me and took Alex's bottle. She washed them and put them away.

A few hours later we got them to bed. I told her goodbye and she left. I made some coffee and waited for Ethan to get home. I leaned back on the counter and took in my life. A home, husband, and two beautiful, healthy babies, I couldn't ask for more.

I hugged Ethan and pecked him on the lips the second he got in the door. I put my finger to my lips indicating that he needed to be quiet. He quietly chuckled and winked at me before he headed to the room to get ready to relax.

I put the rest of the stuff from Target away and heated up some food for us. We ate on the back porch so we could talk, but kept the back door open so we could hear if one of the babies cried. I looked up at the star filled sky and smiled, one lone star twinkled in the sky above. Just one.
