"Sorry for the wait," Marina returned, holding two cups of some kind of tea. She handed me one and sat down next to me with a smile.

"I never expected we'd reunite like this, Marina-sensei," I commented wryly. "When I heard you had disbanded, I thought you had given up on guitar - and may be music in general."

On the other hand, my teacher smiled with a seemingly bittersweet and nostalgic feeling. "No, I haven't given up on music."

"Of course. Sensei loves music and her guitar way too much to give up, right? I bet you still have your guitar and take it out to play every now and then," I said, half-joking.

Surprisingly, she looked at me in shock. Oh, did I hit the nail on the head?

"How did you know?" Marina asked, puzzled.

"We've known each other since I was 6. i had a 99.9% chance of guessing at least this much."

I stifled a giggle at her dumbfounded expression as I took another sip from my tea. Marina smiled gently at me, though her eyes suddenly took on a far-away expression.

"Since you were 6, was it?"

"I still remember your tears while you held on to my clothes and begged me to teach you guitar."

"Ahaha, that did happen, didn't it?"

We shared a bright smile as we reminisced the memories of us together, cheesy as it may sound. But in my defense, who wouldn't want to look back at their memories with a treasured teacher after being separated for who knows how many years?

Pretty soon, Kasumi and Tae and Sayo and the other 7 girls returned. They all wore smiles on their faces, Kasumi especially.

"We're back!" Beaming, the brunette bounced over to us and gave us the victory hand sign. Following her, Arisa and Tae and Rimi and Saaya smiled with expressions that showed relief and pride and maybe a bit of enthusiasm. Or at least that's what I thought. It's pretty difficult to tell exactly how someone's feeling.

"They agreed!" Kasumi announced cheerfully, causing Marina to brighten up with excitement and joy.

On the other hand, they seemed to forget that I, being new around here, had absolutely no idea of what they were talking about. Honestly, would someone mind doing some explaining?

Oh, Imai Lisa-san seems to be available.

Walking over to her, I gently tapped her shoulder with the purpose of having her explain everything to me.

I'm just going to put this out there, Lisa's amazing. Not only did she take one look at me and understand what I wanted before I even said anything, she took the time to patiently explain it to me so that even I, who had no prior knowledge of the situation, could understand it.

Yep, my admiration for you has grown, Lisa-san.

"Thanks, Imai-san." Clasping her hands with mine, I gave her a bright smile.

Hm? Was it my imagination, or did Lisa freeze for a moment?

"No problem~! I'm always happy to help." Lisa smiled back at me cheerfully, causally withdrawing as she followed a group of 4 girls out the door.

As the chaos dispersed, Marina took her place at the front desk and I joined her, standing at her right as I'd always done.

"So you're holding an event, huh? How many bands have you invited so far?" I asked her.

Marina thought for a moment and replied with a proud smile. "With Poppin' Party's help, we've managed to get four other bands."

"Poppin' Party?" I displayed an obvious interest in the fun-sounding band name that became an unfortunate mistake that I regretted later on.

Marina's eyes sparkled, a sign that occurred every time she was going in depth with some passionate explanation.

I sighed and interrupted her before she spoke. "Oh, spare me the details, I know how fired up you get when the conversation goes that way. Please just give me a basic rundown for now."

"Poppin' Party, also known as PoPiPa, consists of 5 of the girls you saw a few minutes ago: Toyama Kasumi is a cheerful and energetic leader on vocals and guitar, Hanazono Tae is the cool, music-loving lead guitarist of the band, Ichigaya Arisa plays the piano splendidly, Ushigome Rimi is the shy but adorable bassist, and last but not least, there's family-oriented Yamabuki Saaya, their amazing drummer. According to Toyama-san, Poppin' Party. . ." Marina remained this way for 5-6 minutes, wearing out my patience with every passing second.

"Too long!" I finally interrupted her, slamming my hand on the counter for more impact. It hurt a lot though. . .

"You talk way too much, Marina-sensei!"

"Really?"

"Really! Let's change the topic."

Our friendly bantering continued until the live house closed, then I had to leave while Marina stayed behind, apparently to clean up. Speaking of which, I never see Marina-sensei outside of a live house or studio. And she even told me once that she 'couldn't leave' so she needed my help buying some stuff. Even though there were oh, I don't know, 6-7 part-time workers there at the time.

. . .It can't be.

Well, back to the present, I got home and did all that stuff normal people do at their homes.

Today was a great-

"(Y/N), Tsukishima-san just called. She wants your help in hosting something at the place she works at."

Marina-sensei, please don't drag me into your schemes. . .
