Lexi's POV
"Hey mom" I said as I walked through the front door,
"Hey darling, did you have a good second day?"
"Yeah" I mumbled walking past her and headed for the stairs
"Okay then?!" she shouted up to me with sarcasm in her voice,
"I'll just be down here on my own as usual then..." She said to herself although I could still hear her.
I really should pay more attention and spend more time with my mom, but things have just gotten awkward between us and we are definitely not as close as we were before my dad died. It's just the way things happened, she is really superstitious about everything, and I guess that's why I don't want to tell her about my nightmares because she will just worry and hurt herself even more.
I got into my bedroom and I sat down at my desk looking at some blank pieces of paper. I picked up a black pencil and breathed out slowly. Drawing had always been one of the small hobbies I did when I was tired, to let off some steam and create a unique piece of art. I placed the black lead onto the crystal white paper, as I started drawing something I rested my head into the palm of my left hand and continued.
I wasn't paying much attention to the picture and slowly let my mind wonder to earlier this day. Does Scott actually like me? Maybe he's just being friendly. Urgh, I don't know what to think, maybe I'll just play low, I don't know him enough, I can't trust him with everything right? I sighed out loud and sat up right in my chair. As my eyes focused on the paper my breath caught in my throat. I dropped the black pencil to the floor and stood up, stumbling backwards looking down at my hands held out infront of me.
"Wha-, wha- what"
I inched closer to the desk and looked down at what i'd just drawn.
"How is that possible" I breathed out.
"I wasn't even paying attention"
I picked up the paper and inspected it closely. A large, intimidating black wolf stood over the body of a young girl, ripping her to shreds, with flesh and blood hanging from the wolf's teeth, snarling ever so wickedly. The wolf had bright yellow eyes that outstood from the dark background of a forest.
I realised I've just illustrated the nightmare I had last night. What's wrong with me?! Why is this scene burned into my head so clearly. My breath quickened as I became unaware with what's real and what's not. I jumped out of my faze when I heard my mom shouting up to me.
"Alexis! There's a Scott McCall here for you!"
oh shit. I completely forgot about Scott coming over. I put the drawing on my desk and quickly ran to the mirror to check myself over. I ran my hands through my hair and breathed slowly and went to meet Scott.
I walked down the stairs and saw my mom stood there talking to Scott. Oh god this is awkward.
"Oh hi darling!" My mom beamed "You didn't tell me you made a male friend" she turned to face me and gave a wink and a very scary smile. She freaks me out sometimes.
"Hello" Scott grinned giving a little wave from behind mom
"Hi" I said to Scott looking at him and ignoring my mom. "uh okay mom, I'll see you later bye." I dragged Scott away by his arm and he chuckled
"It was nice meeting you Mrs. Parker!" Scott shouted back. I dragged him away too quickly to hear a reply.
I opened my bedroom door and shut it after him. I sighed and gestured to the room,
"My bedroom"
"It's nice" Scott said walking around slowly looking at little bits and pieces.
"So...." I said awkwardly
"So..." he imitated "Chemistry huh?"
"Yeah, it's not my best subject" I chuckled
"Well snap" he smirked at me and walked over to the desk to get started. His height caused him to tower over the desk as he looked down, and to my surprise his eyes seemed to be locked on the drawing I just created.
"Alexis?"
"Uh...yeah?" I replied unsure of what he was going to say about my artwork
"What the hell is this meant to be?!" He raised his voice and I saw him clench his fists,
"A wolf, duh" I said pointing with my hand
"Did you draw this?" he questioned, still inspecting the piece,
"Yes..."
Scott sighed loudly and turned around to face me, paper in hand holding it up to me.
"Have you seen this wolf somewhere?" He asked incredibly seriously,
I raised an eyebrow as he was more bothered about the wolf then the poor girl, me, lying dead on the dam floor
"No"
"Are you sure?" He stated
"No. Well yes, well not really but-" before I could finish Scott interrupted me
"Alexis. Where have you seen this wolf?" He said and a splash of worry washed over his face
"Only in a nightmare, I swear" I mumbled and looked down at the ground in embarrassment, my cheeks flushing a bright crimson colour.
Scott sighed once again and placed the drawing down taking one last look at it. He took a step closer to me and wrapped his arms around me. I immediately reacted and wrapped them around his warm body. He smells so good... like forest, wood, outdoors...
"Lexi?" He whispered
"Mhm"
"Wolves can't be found in beacon hills okay? You're safe here"
I tried to make myself believe that, but for some reason it sounded like the exact opposite. I know it's not safe here.
Scott's POV
"Wolves can't be found in beacon hills okay? You're safe here"
That's all I could tell her, that she'll be safe if I'm around, but then again if I'm around she's never going to be safe.
