"Hiya, mom. Need me to mow the lawn?"
"Oh, stop teasing. Let's go play some bingo!"
Dean led Mary out of her house, and helped her into the car. The surface was hot from the sun, and he winced as he opened the door. Why was it so freaking sunny in December?
He was taking his mum to play bingo. Up until now she had been able to go by herself, but she had lost her driving licence, so Dean had to take her. He was more than happy to oblige. He hadn't seen her enough recently.
"So, do you know where we're going?" Mary asked.
"Uhhh..." He hesitated. "Well, I-"
"Did you really think I expected you to? I'll show you the way," she said, laughing.
It took about ten minutes to drive there, Mary telling Dean where to turn. (I'm watching a documentary about the sea right now and the flying fish look so happy.) It took another five minutes to park, and by the time they got inside it was nearly time to start.
Dean and Mary sat down at a small table, nearish to the back of bingo hall. It had a tall ceiling, and a wooden stage up at the front. The number caller (at least Dean assumed she was) walked on from the main area.
"Ok, listen up guys, we have people coming round with cards right now. Does everyone know the rules?"
Dean nodded, cos Mary had briefed him enough times for him to know how to play. Not everyone said yes though, so the caller started explaining.
All at once Dean sensed someone behind him. He whipped round to face a dude with blue eyes and black hair and - screw this, you all know what Cas looks like. This is Castiel. You know him. Dean doesn't.
"Woah dude, ever heard of giving people heart attacks?"
"Sorry about that. Do choose a bingo card." (I won't say whether he talks like Misha or Cas, you guys can choose for yourself). "They can make a difference."
"Pretty sure you just have to say that, but sure," Dean said. He chose an absolutely random card, and looked back up at the hot dude above him. He had only realised he was bisexual about a year ago, but he was single and ready to pringle.
"Oh, I have to say a lot of things." Hot Dude's mouth twitched just a tiny little bit before he was strictly business again. "Listen..." his voice lowered. "If you need anything during the game, just stare at me until you get my attention. That cool?" Dean nodded.
"Well thanks, I guess," he said. Hot Dude kinda winked before he moved on.
Mary looked at him knowingly. "So... that dude, huh?"
"Shut up, mom!" Dean whisper-shouted. He really didn't need his elderly mom helping out with who he found attractive. That would be just a wee bit awkward. And weird. And maybe a bit creepy?
Mary smiled. "Ok, honey. Just make sure you use-"
"Shh, she's done with the instructions." Dean only now looked down at his bingo card. (If you don't know what it looks like, see the picture at the start :D). How was he meant to get, like, all the numbers he had on there in ten freaking minutes?
"First number..." the caller said. "74, candy store!" As she typed in the machine where she got the number, it came up on the screen behind her. Across from Dean, Mary highlighted something on her card, so did people around them.
"61, bakers bun!" she called out. Dean checked his card, and saw the number on there. He took one of the fancy little highlighter things and scratched it out.
