It was Monday after school and I was at home doing home work. Tryouts weren't until 5:30 because football practice didn't end until 4:45. And it was about 5:00when I heard a knock on the door from downstairs. I peeked put my bedroom window to check. Why was Matt here? How did he know where I lived?
I opened the door. "Hi. I came to pick you up and take you to tryouts because I thought you might need a ride."
It was then when my little brother Brian came into the doorway then my dad yelled from the kitchen "Who is at the door?!"
"My friend Matt from school. He is going to take me to volleyball tryouts today!" I yelled back.
"He!!! Well he better not get ideas!"
"It's nothing like that dad he just driving me to the school then driving me back!" I turned back to Matt. "Sorry, he's really overprotective."
"It's fine. So, um, you ready?"
"Yeah."

After the first day 3 girls were already cut out. Coach Morris said she would be cutting 3 girls a day from tryouts and the remaining 10 would be on the team. Four of which would be benched during games and used as backup players and swapped out as needed.

Friday came again and yet somehow I hadn't been cut out. Matt can to pick me up and I was super nervous because today was the scrimmage to find out who would make the team. As soon as I walked into the gym Coach Morris told me to go ahead and get into my libero position. I did as I was told and when everyone got there we started our scrimmage. After all three sets were over we all sat on the bench.
"You three can go home," Coach Morris didn't cut me. I was shocked. I smiled. "Practice starts Monday after school at 3:30 and will end at 5:30. Make sure you have a ride home," Coach Morris said.
Matt ran down the bleachers and jumped into the gym floor and picked me up. It felt like I was in the clouds. I probably was after all he was 6'1. He set me down. We laughed.
"So, um, are you gonna come to the game today? If not I'll just take you home," he said.
"I'll go."
