A Great Day

As we walked to the football field from the gym, I couldn't help but think about the feeling I got when he had picked me up. It was a good feeling but I didn't know what it was. Then I just stopped troubling myself with the thought and decided to talk to Matt.
   "Thank you," I said.
   "For what?"
   "For convincing me to tryout."
"Oh, your welcome. I told you that you'd make the team. And I'd like to point out that I was right for once," he laughed and stopped walked and turned to me. We did that stare again. Of course, that same weird feeling came back. I wonder if he felt it to.
"Well, I'd better head to the locker room and get changed."
   "Yeah. Um, good luck."
He smiled and I smiled back just before I realized that the whole time we had been holding hands. He let go and walked away. I went to the bleachers and sat next to Brittney. I didn't see her last week I guess.
"Did you make the team?" she asked cheerfully.
   "Yes!"
"That's good! I'm so proud of you. Where's your boyfriend?"
"Matt is not my boyfriend. And he's in the locker room."
"Oh yeah, if he's not your boyfriend then why were you two holding hands over there?"
"I don't know but he's not my boyfriend."
"Not yet, you mean," we laughed. I did like that thought. But I knew it would never happen.
The game started and all I could do was look for number 88. I spotted him. I kept looking at Matt the whole game. I couldn't help it. Whenever he got a touchdown, I screamed with the crowd (which is something I never do). In the second quarter, Brittney went to the concession stand to get us some drinks. She came back and handed me a Pepsi then sat down. Ugh. Why did Matt have to be so cute. I couldn't keep my eyes off him. I couldn't stop thinking about the feeling I get with him.
When I finally snapped beck to reality, it was halftime and Matt did the same thing he did last time except he claimed all the way over the rail and walked over to me. The coach was yelling at him but it looked like he didn't care. He stopped right in front me and looked into my eyes. I looked back into his.
"Come out on the field," he said holding out his hand.
I took it and walked with him into the 50 yard line. The band marched in a circle around us. The cheerleaders were cheering around the band. I had no idea what was going on. Matt turned a faced me. That's when I felt a drop of rain hit my cheek. He leaned in and kissed me! I kissed back. It was passionate but delicate. I liked it.
We both pulled away.
"So does this mean your going to be coming to a lot more games this year?" he asked.
"Definitely," I giggled.
