//

i remember sitting in health class

watching a documentary on a star basketball player

who became a drug addict.

he recounted how it all began—

in college

when he walked into a friends room

where people were on their knees

bent over a table

with lines of white powder

"wanna try it?" they asked

and try it, he did.

I never though much of it,

I didn't think it was that easy,

but the next thing I knew,

i was a month into college

hanging out in the dorm

when i entered a friends room

where people were on their knees

bent over a table

with lines of white powder

"wanna try it?" they asked

and try it, I did.

i told myself it was just one line

nothing more

i didn't even feel anything

it was stupid

not worth ever trying again

until the curiosity kicked in once more

a wanting to feel the high

but no, it was more than curiosity

more than a wanting

it was

 a

craving.
