Meanwhile the trio was in the village with July, Callie and Marie stayed behind to discuss matters they couldn't disclose to the others just yet...

Marie: Alright, so let's go over it all so far.

Callie: Wait. You don't they're on their way back do you? What if they hear? I was always so bad at this secret stuff-
<<Callie was slightly freaking.>>

Marie: .. Callie, you're an agent, remember?

Callie: Oh.. yeah.

Marie: Also, they just left.
You got this.

Callie: *nods no* Urnp, we do.

Marie: Right, couz'.

Putting the walkie-talkies away, they exchanged notes.

Callie started, "OK.. So, (1)  agents negative one and two are awaiting updates on the island people. *looking up* Shouldn't we be out there to soak up as much as we can??

<note 1: for simplicity's sake I'll keep writing it like this for a bit _ heh>

Marie: Yes, but.. We don't want to looks suspicious or like we're observing a terrarium either..

Callie: .. Eh, and I guess it might be a dead give-away to pull out all the science gadgets, too, huh?

Marie: Yeah, and plus, they're just not used to us yet.. At least not as much as we need them to be for this stuff to go smoothly.

Cali: Roight.. Next point for now, then.

Mari: (2) Captain Cuttlefish wanted a map of the area *Callie's face lit up a bit* and scans of vegetation and plant life here.

Cali: That we can do!
*She noted things down.*

Mari: *nods* Just need to wait 'till after dark, when they're all sleeping, for the map scan.
For now we should-

Cali: Scan a few and try to join them!

Mari: Sounds like a plan.

Cali: Eyy!

Mari: Le-go then!

They got up.

After the two fams scanned some nearby and on- the-way-there vegetation, they headed towards the village center, where Jun and July's home was, packs on their backs.

Into the walk, one of them spoke.
".. Y'kno Marie, I hope it all works out.." the pink one said, reflective.

"Yeah.. same here, Cal." looking down a bit, in light blue color at the moment.

"I don't want to make any more enemies."

Passing the library, they came across Jun.

Callie saw him first, "Heh-Heay!, JuN-bug!"

They got along pretty well, it resulted.

"How's it going, Jun?" Mari calmly greeted next.

"Fine, how are you guys?" was his first response, he added, "What's up?"

"We were actually on our way to your hut now!" Callie told him.

"Oh, really?" smiling, "Me, too, that's my next destination."

"Guess we're all going together, then," said Marie.

"I guess so." He responded.

"Yep! You're stuck with us." Callie said in cool fashion, half-jokingly.

"With you? Any day!" He chuckled. "I mean, you say it like it's a bad thing or something." A slightly smug look on his face 😏.

"Oh," Callie yelped happily, bringing her palms in pray-style to her lips. "Marie, did you see that!? .. I think he mastered 'the sarcastic joke'! Ohp-" she wiped a tear as if to be mother seeing her little boy grow up.

"Callie, you are sumthin' else.." Marie mumbled with a deadpan and slight face palm, tho still smiling after.

And they walked the way.

Around them were a few on-lookers...

"Do their parents really approve of them hanging out with the new-comers?"

"I know, I'm still quite a bit concerned myself.."

"I've been telling my kids not to go near them for now."

"What if they're only acting nice?..

Oh-ho, so some or many of the villagers are still pretty wary of the inklings..

I wonder what it will take to convince them they don't (this group) harbor malice for the humans?
