Cato POV

Ok. I can do this. Clove did it. Even though she is a million times braver than me I will go for her. And for Gus. I will go for him too. I take a deep breath. "Diols Zings" calls Cinthy loik in her annoying, high-pitched capitol voice. "I volunteer as tribute!" I yell. I head up to the stage. "Another volunteer! What is your name?" She is clearly getting board of this"Cato Hadley" I say. "Shake hands Cato and Clove." We do. "Let's hear it for the district 2 tributes, Cato and Clove!" There are loud cheers.

Then we are rushed inside the justice building. This is were we will say goodbye to our friends and families. I am lead to a large fancy room. My parents come running in. "We love you so much, Cato." My mom said. "You will be okay. You will win." Dad said, willing it to be true. We stayed there hugging until their time was up.

Next a group of about 15 of my friends came in.

"Cato! Cato! Cato!" They cheered. They all came and forced me to the ground. "We know you can win the games." Thomas said. "Yup!" Said Jackson "You're better than all of em'."

"He might be better than them but, he still isn't going to win." We turned to see who had said that. Neil saw her first. It was Cloves best friend Marie. "Why not?" Asked Neil. "Because he won't let Clove die." She said simply. "He loves her."

My friends looked at me and Henry said "That was the Clove! You never let us near her. You said she would beat us up!"

"She would." Marie and I said together. "Time is up!" A peacekeeper yelled. As my friends stampeded out yelling "Cato! Cato! Cato!" I knew I would miss them.
