Day Two - Prompt: Dreams
SPIOILERS AHEAD! duh?
Time Period: Some time after the four met Ardyn, but before they went to the Disc with him.
A Storm Is Coming
Prompto woke up in a cold sweat. Blonde streaks of his hair were sticking to the sides of his face, and he was shivering. He sat up straight, finding himself in a field of bright grass. He panted lightly, looking around.
"Noct!" He began to call out, standing up as he did so. "Gladio! Ignis! Guys!" He made an attempt to call his friends with no avail. "Where are they..?" He mumbled quietly to himself. "Where am I..?"
His surroundings seemed familliar, he was sure he was in Lucis. Possibly the Duscae region. He looked around the horizon for the Disc of Cauthess, but it wasn't to be seen.
"Noct!" He began to call out again, growing louder. "Noct! Noct!!" There was of course no response. No sign of his companions. No sign of his prince.
He began to hear a noise overhead, the whirring sound of an airship. He looked up and saw a Magitek engine. Following behind it were several other Magitek engines.
"Oh no..." He whispered to himself and immediately began running in the opposite direction. He could possibly fight on his own, but not against all those imperials. He needed his partners' support. So all he had left to do was run.
As he ran, the skies began to grow dark. He had no idea what time it had been, but the sun was way too high in the sky to be early enough to start getting dark. He stopped running and ducked behind a boulder, panting and looking back up at the aircrafts. At this point there were dozens of these Magitek engines filling up the darkening sky.
Some of the engines closer to the front began lowering in their place. The one front and center let the door open and out stepped the mystery Prompto and his friends found themselves having mild trust issues with. The man wore a Tim Burton-esque suit with a heavy black trenchcoat topped with a fedora.
"Ardyn..." Promto said quietly, watching the man saunter off the ship.
"Oh my dear Prompto," Ardyn, the man walking of the engine began, "can't you see? There's a storm coming." A smirk exitsted on his face and it seemed like it would be impossible to erase.
"What storm?" Prompto questioned, his fear beginning to build. Before Ardyn could give him a proper answer, the world started to get hazy. Everything darkened more and blended together. A wind also began to pick up, drifting little droplets of rain in Prompto's direction.
It wasn't long before the darkness grew so strong it was impossible to see anything. The panic grew even stronger, a heaviness building in his chest. He didn't know what to do. He shut his eyes tight and began to scream. "NOCT!" He wouldn't stop. "NOCT! NOCT!!"
When he opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was Noctis's face towering over his. Noctis had been shaking Prompto in attempt to wake him, seeing he succeeded finally.
Prompto sat up straight, just like he did in what must have been a dream. "Noct!!" was the first thing that slipped out of his mouth when he woke up. He hadn't known he'd been saying Noctis's name in his sleep for a while.
"Hey, I'm right here." Noctis had his hand on Prompto's shoulder. Prompto immediately hugged Noctis and got a good look around. He was in his tent, the one he shared with Gladio. Reality started to become clearer in Prompto's mind. It was indeed just a dream.
"Was it Ardyn?" A voice asked from behind Prompto. It was Gladio. Prompto nodded. "This is the fourth night in a row."
"Ardyn's bad news." Prompto replied emotionally. "I can feel it."
"They are just dreams, Prompto." Noctis said, looking him in the eye.
"No no, they're so much more than that. They're...they're a sign. A message." Prompto responded, shaking his head.
"What message?" Noctis questioned curiously but also cautiously.
"A storm is coming..."
