CHAPTER 7: A NEW BEGINNING

“Hey! Hussain get up bro……. It's your school today..You will get late!” Shehry nudged him and he at once got up on his bed started staring him madly

“what the f……what r u doing so early?......Hey wait… did you even sleep last night Shehry?” He rubbed his eyes and asked

“ Yeah… no I mean I couldn’t sleep it was almost 2 when I came in the room and then, thanks to your melodious snorings…..: /” Shehry made a face and Hussain sheepishly laughed

“Oh, I thought its about her…..” Hussain carefully checked Shehry’s expressions

“What about her?????”Shehry raised an eyebrow

“AAA! Nothing… I just thought you were… ummmm you know…”Hussain while saying slowly came out of the bed… “I thought you had a solid crush on her and you kept on drooling on her whole night” and with this he ran into the washroom and banged the door close. While Shehry cursed him under his breath and went out of the room

“koi hal nai tera….tu nikal phr batata hoon tujhe”

“Good morning beautiful! …..Shehry came into the kitchen as every morning and kissed Saba on her cheek….. “Good morning dad!...” 3

“Not fair han mum got a kiss and dad just a dry greeting…..” Asif complaint like a kid

“Here it is……” Hussain came right then and hugged his dad tightly…. Good morning!

Shehry was holding his mum from behind into a warm hug they all shared a sweet laugh when suddenly their smiles faded as they saw Maryam standing at the far corner of the hall staring at them with eyes that had longing may be she was missing her mum dad… Shehry left Saba quickly and grabbed an apple and started munching

“arey beta tum uth gaeen aao …kesi ho ub?” Saba felt everybody’s discomfort and went to Maryam….

“Assalam o alaikum!...M good aunty “ she greeted all and then tried to reply with a smile

“Maryam aaiye na join us in the breakfast….” Hussain called her with a huge smile as always

“han beta aao… Shehry go bring another chair” Asif also called her and then asked him to bring a chair as they had only 5 chairs with the dinning table

“Rehne dejiye….”She suddenly said n shehry turned to see her there eyes met for a nanosecond and Maryam felt uncomfortable, even Shehry started looking here and there… “mujhe bhook nai uncle shukriya”

Maryam said and went to the room again…..

They all had breakfast and then Hussain left for school Maha had a day off so she was peacefully sleeping… Maryam sat beside her and started looking at her… she found her really cute she was in her thoughts when she heard knocking on the door she dint say anything……

And after a few seconds Shehry entered into the room, he left the door wide open didn’t close it on purpose so that she won't freak out again…. Maryam at once got up, she didn’t know what to say so she tried to head towards the door, but Shehry came in front of her and stopped her

“Hey! Listen…. Please! Don’t get afraid please don’t freak out!.....I know I owe you an apology Maryam…. M really sorry whatever happened at the airport was just a prank I know I shouldn't have done that…. But..Um, what can I say now I am really sorry…” he waited for her response, but she didn’t even move she kept on staring the floor She knew Shehry was really embarrassed she could feel that but didn't know how to respond so kept silent

“I hope you’ll forgive me…. And please if you are leaving because of me then you don't…..

“No, it's not you… I just don’t want to become a burden…” Shehry was saying when she at once cut him out and said… for the first time she looked directly at his face and replied shehry looked into those eyes and… Ooops…. Awkward situation!.....He backed off and she looked down again.

“Who is talking bout burden???Shehry did you just call her a burden…..??” Saba entered the room and inquired dramatically…. Shehry smiled..No wonder from where did shehry and Hussain got their drama skills :-p

“Hey… no…..”shehry knew her mum and her kind heart he knew she won't let her go like this… somehow he felt happy about this and then he called himself a jerk…… what the eeff is wrong with me!!!!!!

“Aunty u ppl had done a lot for me… I just want to go now”Maryam said

“han Chali Jana but we have a surprise for you…….”Saba smiled and get out of the door and Aqeel entered with something in his hands

“Chachoo……”Maryam got really surprised and hugged him tightly she felt as if she was hugging her father

“M so happy to see you bachey…. After such a long time and look! My little doll has grown up so beautifully“ Aqeel hugged her back and smiled

“ahhhh…no no maryam bachey don’t cry…..Please!”Aqeel felt her tears on his shoulder and patted her back, Saba and Shehry both left the room  

“Beta how come you are here in US?” Finally Aqeel asked and Maryam told everything to him even last night’s incident with Rohan

“Such a jerk…….”Aqeel was really angry

“But you know what the bigger jerks are Asad and Ali… they r big mature men how come they marry their sister to someone like Rohan and yet again how come they send you here all alone “Aqeel was in bad temper

“I don't know chachoo maybe… may be I have become a burden on everyone” Maryam said

“No bachey don’t say like this you are the most innocent and harmless person I ve ever known…. You know? You are so like Afzaal you always make me remember his smile, his deep sensible eyes… you can't be a burden you are a blessing my dear…. Daughters are blessings” Aqeel wiped her tears off and Maryam hugged him once again

“Now you don’t have to go anywhere, okay?.....You are coming with me n m not letting you go back to that hell (Pakistan) and lemme deal with this Rohan myself…..mein abhi zinda hoon meri bachi ko ub ek bhi aansoo bahane ki zaroorat nai”

Maryam smiled…. After so long she genuinely smiled and felt lighter

Aqeel told Saba and Asif that he is taking Maryam with him…. Saba was quite reluctant but she makes her promise that she will regularly visit them and Maryam agreed. Aqeel put her luggage in his car and Maryam hugged Saba tightly

“Thank you so much aunty after such a long time I felt as if Amman was with me” Maryam said while hugging her and Saba smiled. Maryam saw Shehry was standing there trying not looking at her.

“Okay bhabi, Asif Allah Hafiz…..Shehry beta bat Sunna” Aqeel said and with this he went out Maryam was standing with Aqeel Shehry came to him

“G uncle?”

“Beta I don't know what is this but mehro has given it to me this morning and asked me to give it to Hussain now as he is not here I think the best person… is you…” Aqeel said and gave Shehry an envelope…..Maryam was confused who was mehroo and all but she kept quiet

“Oh yeah! Thanks uncle thanks a lot…. I will give it to him for sure…”Shehry said and they shook hands, Aqeel sat in the car and Maryam had been just about to sit when Shehry said…

“Hey!...Take care” Maryam turned, looked at him and with all her strength tried to smile… didn’t say anything sat in the car and there they go……….
