"Wh-what d'ya think she meant?" Karen glances at the spot where the girl stood.
"I don't know, Karen. I'm sorry."
"D-dont be." Karen's lower lip trembles.
"What are you gonna do, Karen?" John doesn't hesitate- he throws his arms around Karen.
She shakes her head against his chest. "I dont know."
"Karen, I-I love you." She nods. When she doesnt answer, John lets go. "I think you know what you have to do. " Again, Karen nods."Ah, Karen, was it?"
Karen brings up her courage. "Yes."
"What do you want, little girl?" The man leans forward. He has pale skin, dark hair, and a huge scar on his face.
"I'm here to see Greg O'Neill. "
"What'd you want with old Greg?" His face is just a few inches away from Karen's. His breath smells like garlic.
"He's my uncle. He has a package for me."
"Alrigh'." The man moves aside and Karen goes through the door. She steps into a dungeon-looking room. Green mold crawls up the walls. Purple goop oozes out of water bottles.
"Uncle G?" Karen's voice shakes.
A short man scrambles out of a doorway in the wall. "Ah, Karen!" His blonde hair is greasy any and dirty. He is wearing a stained green shirt and khaki pants.
"I want the package."
Uncle G's face falls. "Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Karen..."
"Just give it to me already."
Uncle G pulls a small brown box out of his pocket. He holds it out to Karen, hand shaking.
"Karen, please..."
"Thanks." Karen grabs the box out of his hand, turns on her heel and runs out of the mad-scientist lab."Oh! You're back!" Carol runs to Karen. "I was wondering when you'd come back!"
"Well, I'm here."
"I'm so glad you chose us over life!"
"I didn't. "
Carol stares. "What?"
"I came back to fix something. And you are going to help me."~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
