"Are you sure you want to do this?" I hear Scott ask me from my room.

I poke my head out of my closet and find him lying comfortably on my bed and texting on his phone. I frown at him.

"Uh, yeah? Why wouldn't I? It's my 25th birthday, how else would you reckon I spend it?"

"Well, " he looks pointedly at me. "Maybe not completely wasted in a bar and relentlessly hitting on other girls?"

I grab a heel from beside me and chuck it at him. It ends up falling at his feet and he simply laughs.

"Rin, we all know you can't hold your liquor for squat. I can't count how many times you've gotten wasted after your first beer." He holds out his phone at me and on the screen I see a picture of me passed out on a car seat. I groan and swat his hand out of my face.

"That was only that once...or twice," I mumble and go back into the closet. I begin to go through my clothes again, wanting to decide on what to wear tonight.

"I just feel bad for all those girls that have to deal with your cheesy pickup lines," he says. "You have no control over your poor little gay heart, y'know."

"Whatever," I call back. "We're still doing this, whether you come along or not. I'm inviting a bunch of others anyway."

I hear Scott heavily sigh.

"Nah, I'm coming too. I can't wait to see how you make a fool of yourself this time. But don't worry, I'll make sure to stop you and take you home. Only after you hit on one or two girls and I get a picture, though."

"Some friend you are," I mutter quietly, but he hears me anyway. He laughs.

"You're welcome!" I hear him call out.

9:30 finally comes around and Scott and I leave to go to the club, deciding to meet out friends there. When we finally get there, we meet everyone else at the entrance. We exchange a few greetings and I get a few 'Happy Birthday's.

"You gonna be okay?" my friend, Amelia, asks me after letting me go from the birthday hug she gave me.

I make a face at her.

"I'm not having this talk again, guys. I'll be okay! Trust me," I tell her.

The last thing I wanted was to make them too worried about me that they wouldn't have any fun because of it.

A few of my friends exchange a look, and I roll my eyes at them.

"Come on! It's my birthday. Let's have some fun, no?" I tell them, and walk into the bar. They follow behind.

The next few hours pass by in a blur. I don't waste any time going over to the bar top and getting a few beers. I pass them around to my friends and start drinking mine. I feel the bitter liquid rolling down my throat, and I begin to immediately relax. My friends and I wander over to the dance floor and we start dancing. I don't bother finding someone to dance with, I much preferred dancing on my own. Soon enough, I get lost in the music. I close my eyes and let both the rhythm and the beer take control.

After a while, and another beer, I begin to feel like I'm floating. My vision is a bit blurry and I can't seem to stay still, but I like the feeling of it. I was having fun, much like I wanted to. I bump into Scott and he smiles at me.

"You enjoying yourself?" he asks me, and I can barely hear him over the music.

I eagerly nod at him and smile. I see him laugh and he dances away.

Wanting to take a break from the dancing, I go to sit on the bar top. I order more beer and end up talking with the bartender. I tell a few jokes and whenever she laughs, my confidence soars. I talk with her a bit more and decide to go back to the dance floor. As I'm doing so, I realize I feel a lot better than I did before. I'm guessing charming the bartender had something to do with that. I felt as if I were on top of the world, and I didn't want to come back down anytime soon.

Someone suddenly bumps into me and I nearly trip. The movement makes my both my head and the room spin. I feel a hand on my shoulder.

"Rin? Are you okay?"
