(ten years later...)
"Bet you can't catch me Damien!"
" Oh it's on! Race ya home!" I sped off like a lightning bolt after my brother- we were flying home after going out to the market for food- and of course everything needed to be a competition with Jack. We sped through the village and in between all the alleys and trees and people, sometimes barely avoiding them.
"Watch where Your Goin!" cried some grumpy shardwing
The chase continued till we were nearing our home at the edge of the city. we had forgotten about all responsibilities until we saw a frowning Nautilus standing at the door. we stopped dead in our tracks which caused a slight collision between the two of us. we collided and tumbled into a distraught ball at Nautilus feet.
"oof! Damien! get off me!"
we both scrambled to our feet as nautilus continued to stand there, probably being a little bit amused he finally spoke.
" It feels silly to ask at this point but were the two of you racing in the busy marketplace again?"
Jack looked at his feet-" yes sir- it was my idea"
i panicked. i don't want jack to get blamed for what we did! "b-but i did it too! and i agreed to it"
Nautilus chuckled a little " the outcome is the same- an extra hour of schoolwork for the both of you and watering the plants in the yard"
"daaaaaawwww" jack whined. i honestly didn't mind- i kinda liked schoolwork sometimes and nautilus could've given us jobs a lot worse than gardening.
" do the plants and then come inside when your done"
"yessir" jack and i said in unison.As soon as he was inside we went to the water well
"Ok just so it's clear i like totally beat you this time" jack gloated
"nuh uh, that was clearly an even tie"
" you win all the time- this round it was my turn"
" fine- but you'll have to take some of this!" I splashed some of the water onto Jack
"hey! not cool"
" no one said winning wouldn't hold a price"
"fair enough"
we watered the garden and before we finished up Jack said something
" I know he's not in the best mood right now but do you think today we could ask nautilus about..." he looked around and whispered- "the sea dweller thing we heard?"
"yeah! later maybe, Nautilus knows alot of stuff if anyone knows if it's true or not it's gotta be him!"
