Chapter 2

Jay's POV:

I was waiting for my Aunt Julia to arrive from her visit from America. While looking around at the departure area, I spotted the most stunning girl I have ever seen, and her eyes were fixed on a sci-fi book?!?!? I told myself "Why sci-fi? I thought girls dig romance novels... Oh," and that's when it hit me. She was special, not like all other girls. Other girls loved being told they look pretty; she might love a new sci-fi book. Every girl I know has only cared about looking good; she probably didn't care if she looked like a mess. She was perfect for me, but are nerds her type? Wait-did she just look at me?

Gale's POV:

When I got off the plane, my Dad gave me a new sci-fi book as a 'Welcome to Australia' present. When he handed it to me, I started reading it immediately. It was one I've been saving for-The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

While I was walking through departure, I noticed a guy staring at me. Since he was wearing glasses, I figured he was a nerd, so he must surely be looking at the book I was reading.

Dad, Alex, and I were in a taxi headed to our new home. It was a relatively short ride-about 15 minutes. After that, we finally arrived. As I went in, I marveled at how well designed it was.

I found my room next to Alex's. When I went in my room, the first thing I noticed was how spacious it was. There was a queen-sized bed and a red bookshelf next to a big window; besides that, there was also a walk-in closet near the bathroom. It was a dream come true!

After an excruciating hour, I finally finished unpacking all my books, shoes, and clothes. Then, I realized I was thirsty.

I was now downstairs to drink a large glass of lemonade. I noticed it was almost the end of the summer, and usually I went shopping, so I went to Dad and I asked him, "Hey Dad, can I go shopping? It's almost the end of the summer." He replied while handing me 700 Australian dollars, "Sure. I was just on my way to tell you to buy yourself some stuff for school."

"Thanks, Dad!"

"Be back by 5:00, okay?"

"You can count on that!"

While I was at the mall, I had a strange urge to buy a latté from Starbucks. I'm not sure why, but maybe it's related to a thought I had on the plane. The thought was that maybe Australia's Starbucks lattés would taste different from America's Starbucks lattés.

When I got my latté, I noticed all tables were occupied. Well, all but a two-seated table with a guy wearing glasses reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy while sipping on coffee.

I went over to his table and asked him, "Is this seat taken?" As I got closer, I noticed he was the guy who looked at me at the airport.
