ASHTON'S P.O.V

I couldn't believe I was finally talking to her. A little while back, around December last year, I had seen her and her friends talking under the big cherry tree. There was something about her that made me look over twice. I don't know if it was her straight black hair so black it looked blue or those eyes. She had rare eyes. A violet so dark it was mesmerizing.

Her features were those of a doll. So delicate, so pretty.

"What are you looking at?" Olivia had asked, shifting in my lap.

"Nothing," I said turning to her, but I knew she had already seen them. Or her more like it.

Ever since, I made it my goal to get close to her. Talking to Jack and Cody wasn't hard since they were pretty fun. It was her friend Alexa and her. I didn't know how to talk to them. Whenever I made a move Maggie turned around or it was like she thought I was talking to someone else.

Now, parking the car at the park, the place Jason and I hung out at a lot, I hoped a good story came to mind of why I brought her here.

I had talked to Jason about this and he said he would back me up. Hopefully, we didn't mess this up. I really wanted to get to know her.

Taking out the beers from the trunk and sitting at the slide, I started talking, "We come here just to play around, take out some stress."

I mean, it was true. We came here a lot to take out stress or discuss certain things.

"And you my friend, are the chosen one," Jason said, clearly enjoying this.

" Take out some stress, chosen one?" She muttered, furrowing her eyebrows. She looked so fucking cute.

"That's right my friend, the chosen one," Jason said. I think his smile was creeping her out.

"What are you talking about, and whats up with you calling me 'My friend'?" she asked.

Damn, she asked too many questions. I knew Jason was thinking that too because his enthusiasm left him.

" Couple years back, Jason and I made an agreement," I said.

Hopefully Jason says something that has to do with this.

"The agreement consisted of something really simple," I said.

"If any girl ever dared talk back to me without holding an invitation on her voice or flirting,we would bring her here," I said.

It was true, last week I told Jason that if any girl ever did that, I would would do my best to get to know her and be her friend.

"Go on," she said making movements with her hands.

"It meant she would be our girl. The one we would protect. The one we would be our friend," Jason said.

I sighed a sigh of relief, thanking him for going along with it with a look I gave him.

"And that girl is you. You're our chosen one. Would you accept our kind offer princess Maggie," I said.

"Would you let us protect you?" Jason and I said together. Wow, it sounded like we rehearsed this.

We waited a couple of seconds, letting the tension build.

" You guys do know I have friends right? I can't just leave them," she said totally ruining the mood.

"You have friends? Wait, I thought you were new," Jason said.

"OK, now that's just mean," she said with a little hurt in her voice. "And no I have been attending the same highschool since freshmen year."

"Well whatever. The point is we want you to be our friend, meaning your friends are now our friends," I said. "Starting tomorrow you and your friends will save Jason and I a seat on your table and we'll let the whole world know that you are now ours."

"You know I'm not a toy right?" she said.

"And she killed the mood again. Do you always do this? I guess we gotta get used to it," I said.

"I guess I now have to tell Alexa and the twins," she said defeated.

Knowing I won and that she will be our friend, i said," Tell them to meet us here. We will tell them. A new start, a new friendship,"I finished taking a swig of beer letting the bitter taste fill my mouth.

" I hope it lasts," I whispered.

If it did, it meant more time with her. Getting to know her. Something about her made me feel different.

"Call them, what are you waiting for?" Jason told her.

"Dumb butt that's what I'm doing," she said walking away from us to talk to her friends.

It amused me how she hasn't said any bad words.

" One day of talking to her and she's already got you whipped," Jason said.

"Oh shut up Jason. She's just... I don't know but there's something," I said.

Chuckling he said," By the end of the year you'll be completely changed and she will have you wrapped around her finger. Meaning, you'll be dating."

" Hopefully, I wouldn't mind," I said.

" You're already changing and you've only exchanged a few words," Jason said.

"They're on their way," Maggie said coming towards us.

Good, I thought.

" Come sit here," I said pointing to the little space between Jason and I.

Once she sat down, I could tell she was nervous. You couldn't see it from far away, but if she was close enough you'd see how she would start playing with her hands or they would be shaking.

I could tell it started bothering Jason because he put his hands over hers to stop them from moving.

"Just calm down," he said," it's not like were gonna kill you."

Maggie just gave him a blank look.

Jason, shrugging, turned away and muttered," okay, whatever."

Just as I was about to speak, I heard the sound of tires coming close.

Maggie shot up from her seat and started walking towards the parking lot.

"Hey, wait," I said.

"Well hurry up then," she responded.

As the twins started getting out if the car, I knew there was no going back.

Hopefully, everything worked out the way I wanted it to.
