We had driven a while and eventually found a haven in the wilderness so we set up camp Gladio pitched the tent. Prompto set up the campfire and chairs, noctis collected the firewood,ignis set up the grill and I venteerd to go over their suplies.
"You guys have...6 potions...7 elixers...and...2 pheonix downs..." I said aloud as I looked through their bag "you guys must hunt a lot" gladio walked over "well gotta get paid somehow" I nodded "true" just then prompto walked over "snap shot" he said and snapped a photo of me and gladio "haha love the lighting!" Gladio rolled his eyes "yea yea you always do" he walked over to the chairs "hey wheres noct?" "Perhaps still collecting the wood" ignis replied "how hard could it be to go d wood out here?" Prompto asked "pretty hard actually its the desert not many trees around" I answered for him "true but it seriously can't be that-" "back!" Noct shouted as he walked up to us and dropped the wood "miss me?" Gladio shrugged "i liked the quiet" noctis glared "hey!" Gladio and prompto chuckled "haha c'mon noct we're just playing around" he rolled his eyes "sure" he sat down in one of the chairs "so why do you wanna hunt monsters again?" Noctis asked as he looked at me "we see...its kinda...personal" i said and noctis nodded "im sorry for asking" I waved my hand "oh no its ok...ill tell you guys at dinner" he nodded "speaking of which you 4 can choose between croque madame, burly bean bowl, or charcutrie on toast" ignis said to us "bean bowl" prompto said "madame" gladio said "bean bowl" noctis said "uh...madame sounds nice" ignis nodded "well it appears we have a 2 way tie it wod be wise to agree or i will make what I want" ignis said "what do you want?" Noctis asked "veggie medly stew" he said as he looked at noctis "guys lets agree on something please" he said quickly "alright heres an idea" I suggested "lets have gladio and noctis arm wrestle the winner gets their meal cooked" ignis nodded "very well" noctis sighed "fine..." Gladio smirked and stretched his arm "heh c'mon big man" I pulled up a cooler and set it between noctis and gladio "ok boys on 3" prompto said as noctis and gladio grabbed hands "1" gladio smirked "2" noctis wiped his brow "3" prompto pulled his camera out "GO!" I said as gladio and noctis wrestled...well...it wasn't really a wrestle...more of a very futile attempt of noctis winning...which he didn't gladio I stantly slammed bis hand to the cooler "madame" me and gladio said together and ignis nodded with a snap of his fingers "coming right up" he turned to his grill and started cooking "lucky shot" noctis said as he sat back down "i hate to say it noct" prompto started "but you suck at beating gladio" "BUZZ OFF!" noctis said as prompto laughed "so (y/n) what do you wanna slay monsters with?" Gladio asked me "excuse me?" I said "he means your weapon what is your weapon preference?" Ignis asked "oh uh...i never really thought about it" I answered "well i use the biggest swords around" gladio said and summoned a very big sword "nah guns are best" prompto said as he summoned a 6 shooter "I use about everything" noctis finished as he summoned a normal sword "is that...a blade in an engine?" I asked "yea my old man got it for me on my 16th birthday" he said "cool" I replied "I was thinking...uh..." I didn't k ow what to say 'what is my weapon preference?' I thought to myself "in the meantime while you think tell us about your self" ignis said "tell us why your boyfriend cheated on you" ignis said "honestly I don't know...we were happy together..." I sat in a chair "come on iggy" prompto said "my apologies (y/n) i was mearely curious" I waved "no its fine I'm just as curious as you are"
Time past as we talked about things turns out noctis is the Prince of lucis which amazed me I thought his name sounded familiar and his friends were his guards "the crownsguard" as tgey were called and I was very excited to learn about them then ignis served us the food which was outstanding ignis was very talented at cooking
"This is really gold ignis!" I said "oh please its nothing" he said with a wave "no really this is the best food ever!" He smiled "im flattered you think that" he said "yep thats our Iggy always feeding us" prompto said "oh yea hes the best" noctis said "agreed" gladio finished "ok...i wanted to answer the question from earlier" I said as I set my plate down "the reason I want to slay monsters is because...of something that happened when I was little..." They all inched forward in their chairs "we are here to listen" ignis said "ok" I took a breath "it was years ago i was 13 and my sister and I were being mischievous and left the house after dark we wanted to see a daemon upclose...i don't remember why but we did" they stayed quiet "but that night we left insomnia and journeyed outside its borders and here to duscae and we wandered oht in th open for a few hours hoping for something to see" at this point their plates were in their laps as they listened intently "achoo!" Prompto sneezed "s-sorry" he said "bless you" I said as he nodded "thanks" I said "anyway we waited for about an hour later and we heard a noise behind us and a iron giant started climbing out of the ground behind us and we watched with awe and joy as we had completed our 'quest' as we called it" ignis fixed his glasses "but...we were stupid...we were too entranced at the sight of the damn thing that we didn't run...then it was to late...by the time we realized we should run the daemon had summoned some ice bombs and they swarmed us we did our best to fight back but...we were powerless..." Noctis had scooted closer "then a bomb tried to hit me but my sister got in front of me...she shielded me...and the blow she received...killed her instantly..." I had a tear fall from my face "luckily just then my mother and some hunters arrived and they slayed the daemons but...all I could do was hold my sister and hope she would wake up...wven though deep down i knew...she was gone..." Gladio sighed "so my mother took us back and the next day...we had a funeral and burial for her...andi promised her i would slay daemons in Her honor...and i would be my friends's shield...always" I looked up from my lap to them all looking at me as prompto scooted close and wiped my face i hadn't even realized I was crying "I'm...terribly sorry for your loss" ignis said "yea damn thats sad..." Gladio added "well we can help you in your promise" noctis said as he got up and hugged me "your our friend and we will help anytime" I smiled and hugged him back "yea we will always help our friends" prompto said
After a few moments of silence it is cleared his throat "well that was an interesting dinner indeed but its late we must get to bed" he stood up "do you need help cleaning up ignis?" I sked "no Thank you (y/n) you just get some rest" i nodded "ok then" nocgis,gladio,prompto and i all climbed inside the tent and layed down in our sleeping bags "well goodnight noct" prompto said "night boys" gladio said "night (y/n)" noctis said "night prompto" I said as I rolled over and closed my eyes 'not bad for the first night' I thought to myself.
