Blood Tied (Galtean Klance)

- FIVE -

Lance opened his eyes, surprised and relieved that nothing had happened. No pain, no screams, not even that feeling of magic flowing through his veins.

"...Wait...you're sure that your powers are working? I didn't feel anything..."

"My powers worked perfectly fine. Don't you remember what I said? My powers only inflict pain on those who are Galran, or those who have Galran blood. You do not have Galran blood, and you are not Galran. Keith here is Galran, or half-Galran, to be precise. Do you understand?"

Melvark sat back down on his chair, crossing his legs.

"I have been cast out of Galran society because of my power. I have the intellect, drive, and blood-thirst level to be at Galra High Command, but the foolish higher-ups don't trust me -- because of my gift."

Causing physical pain to your race by touch? Yeah, I wonder why they don't trust you.

Lance nearly rolled his eyes.

"I was relocated to this base, far away from High Command, when they found out about my power. They've probably forgotten about me, expected me to rot away in here. But that suits me just fine. Here, I am free to do whatever I want, because I am forgotten! I am no longer under surveillance! I have expanded my base, into the ore of the moon I rest on, and I have made it my own -- a Galran base more advanced than that of High Command!!"

Melvark paused, calming his frenzied breaths before continuing.

"As you may have noticed, Lance, that I don't have any doors here, and some of the walls I have do not act as walls. This is because some of my walls function in place of doors. I have main hallways that branch off into rooms. You can tell where rooms are from the hallway because of these glowing lines."

He raised his hand to point at one of the walls.

"Some rooms can connect to other rooms -- as you found out earlier. Some rooms do not connect to any others, and the walls do not function as doors."

Melvark gestured at the two walls with the glowing purple lines.

"These walls do not go to anywhere. You can try to go through them, but it won't work."

He gestured at the wall with the glowing blue line.

"This wall, you can go through. But you need to meet a certain requirement to go through any of the walls. If there is a purple line, you need Galran blood to go through. So Keith can walk through many of the walls, but Lance cannot. For the walls with blue, you need Altean blood."

Melvark raised his hand, cutting off Lance's words of protest.

"You have Altean blood inside of you. You were able to pass through the wall, and that's proof enough. I'm not entirely sure yet, how the blood got to be there, but I have some theories."
