Chapter 20: Perfectly Good Heart

Fern's POV 

I sat on the stairs and waited for Alyssa and Louis to return. It is midnight and I have been waiting here for and hour. I'm hoping they return soon. I need to talk to Aly.

"Fern." Liam smiled as he came down the stairs and sat next to me.

"Hey, Liam." I faked a smiled.

"Fern, what's wrong?" He asked with a bit of concern in his voice.

"Nothing." I lied.

"You sure?"

I nodded.

"Okay..." He stood up and walked the rest of the way down the stairs and went to the kitchen. I put my head in my hands and sighed.

I looked up at the door, putting my chin in my hands. The knob turned and Louis and Alyssa walked in holding hands. Alyssa noticed my before Louis did.

"Hey, Fern!" Aly said excitedly.

"Hey..." I sighed, faking a smile.

"So what's up?" Aly asked, letting go of Louis' hand, walking over to me and sitting next to me on the staircase.

"I'll be in the kitchen." Louis said, going to the kitchen.

Alyssa's POV

I sat next to Fern on the steps, "So, what's up?" I asked Fern as Louis said something and left the hall. 

She sighed and put her head in her hands. I looked at her suspiciously. She stood up and turned, walking up the stairs. I looked at her awkwardly. Then I got the code, and I followed her up the stairs. We walked up the rest of the stairs and into my room. I closed the door until it was open less than an inch. She sat on my bed and made me come sit by her.

"So...?" I asked.

"Well, I have met Liam before..." she looked at me, something hidden deep in her eyes.

"How?" I asked.

"Well... I was walking through the airport when I was coming home from Florida. And I ran into him... I don't know, I didn't recognise him from being famous, but all of a sudden, I do. Like I do now... But for some reason I didn't. It just... Just... I don't know..." I nodded as she gave me time to let everything sink in. She then continued, "I don't know, Aly... It feels so weird. When we hugged, I felt something...."She said. I nodded. "I don't think you get it. You probably have never been in this situation..." Fern sighed.

"I haven't..." I sighed. "But you say you felt something???" 

She nodded, "I felt sparks. Fireworks."

Olivia's POV 

I heard whispering as I passed Alyssa's room. The door was cracked open and I peaked in to see who was talking. I heard Alyssa and Fern's voices. I stood there quietly, eavesdropping on their conversation.

"...When we hugged, I felt something... I don't think you get it. You probably have never been in this situation..." Fern sighed.

"I haven't..." Alyssa sighed. "But you say you felt something???"

"I felt sparks. Fireworks."

That hit me. Years dropped like bombs from my eye sockets. I ran to my room and collapsed onto my bed. I couldn't take this anymore. Fern is trying to steal Liam. I know it.

Alyssa's POV 

I sat there with Fern. We hadn't said anything for a while. I felt so bad for her. I mean, she felt something when they only hugged... I can't imagine what it would be like for them to kiss. It'd be the grand finale of a firework show! Dang...
