Chapter Three: Caught in the Act

Recap:

I just witnessed the most heartbreaking scene ever.

Luke and Maegan was on the couch making out with each other.

I felt numb. I wanted to runaway so bad, but my feet seemed to be glued to the pavement. My heart started pounding faster and my lungs felt like it was being squeezed till there's no air left in me. I know that I shouldn't be feeling this way, but this was my body's response to the scene enfolding right in front of me.

"Luke?! What the hell?!" Ashton's voice boomed throughout the entire house.

Looks like they haven't noticed us arrive earlier, for Ashton's reaction was what stopped them from continuing any further. They both have shocked expressions spreading through their facial features, but Luke didn't seem to care that I have witnessed the whole scenario.

"Oh hey Ash and Georgia. I didn't know you guys were coming home already. And who's he?" Luke pointed a finger in Michael's direction.

"That's Michael, a close friend of mine. And who's she?" Ash countered, pointing in Maegan's *cough* bitch *cough* way. Sassy Ashton is in da house!

"Ashton, this is Maegan. Maegan, meet my cousin Ashton." he introduced both of them, still not acknowledging my presence.

"Hi I-" Maegan started but was cut right away by Ash.

"What are you doing here? And why were you kissing Luke? Who are you to have the right to do that?" Ash started bombarding her with questions, adding venom to the way he talks. Woohoo!!! Slay 'em brutha!

I knew why Ashton was acting this way to Maegan. He finally had a face to the girl who I always talked him about. The girl who bullies me just so she can feel better about herself, and the girl who captured half of Luke's attention most of the time. He never met her before, so this is his first time seeing her in person. But by the looks of it, Ash doesn't like her even the tiniest bit. Ashton's eyes says it all. All I can see right now while he's watching her intently is disgust and suspicions. I can't blame him if that his first impression on her. I mean the girl looks like it. Wearing a tank top that shows too much clevage and high waisted shorts that can barely cover her bum, in Ash's dictionary, she's pretty much classified as a stripper.

"Um..uh, I need to go now. My parents are porbably looking for me already." Liar. What a lame excuse to runaway from her embarrassment.

Maegan grabbed her bag and heels, and rushed out the door swiftly, purposely bumping me on her way. She turned to my direction, sending me glare before running off to who knows where.

I stood up, dusting my pants, still not saying a word.

"Wow Ash, now you scared her away! That was my only chance to ask her out without anyone interrupting us!" Luke raised his hands in the air in frustration, letting them drop again to his sides.

"Ask her out? Or should I say 'make-out'?"Ashton sneered at Luke, purposely putting quotation marks on the word "make-out" with his fingers.

"Ugh! Georgia can you please explain to Ash?" Luke glanced at me, asking me for help. Wow Lucas...you are asking me to be on your side??? As in ME, who has taken a liking on you, but you never noticed?! Oh yeah, you don't even know that cause you never bothered. I'll never be more than a best friend to you.

"Why are you dragging me into this? It's your problem not mine." I scoffed, crossing my arms and rolling my eyes at him.

"Really now...cause you are my bestfriend, and best friends are supposed to help each other?"

"Whatever Luke, I'm going home."

"But what about our sleep over?" Michael butted in.

"Oh...I'm really sorry Mikey. I'm just not feeling good right now. I promise I'll make it up to you guys next time." I gave him a small smile.

"But you were feeling good this morning."

"Yeah, I think I might have caught a cold or something." I lied.

"Well, we don't want you getting sick so you probably go home now. It was fun hanging out with you. I'll see you again whenever." Michael smiled at me and gave me a friendly hug. This small gesture caused Luke to tense up. Figures. He doesn't even care about who hugs me. I can have other people to hug whenever I want.

"I'll walk you to your door" Ashton offered with me trailing behind him. I gave Michael one last wave before heading of next door.

"I'm so sorry Ash, I have to cancel on our plan tonight."

"It's fine. I understand how you feel about what happened. But I've gotta give it to you though. You didn't breakdownin front of Lucas." he giggled making me giggle as well. His vibes is just really contagious.

"Yeah, and I feel bad for lying to Mikey." I looked down to my hands, fiddling with the hem of my shirt.

"Mikey? So you have a nickname for him right away. Don't worry, he won't mind that. He'll understand everything soon."

Ashton then gave me a hug and bid me goodbye.

I went straight to my room once I get inside the house. I didn't even bother changing my clothes and just laid on my bed, staring up the ceiling. My emotions are flying everywhere. But at the end of it all, deep inside I feel really sad. There's this empty feeling in my stomach whenever I'm reminded of Luke. Just the simple fact that he will never be mine makes a hole through my stomach that can never be patched up.

I think - no, I know - I already figured out what my feelings for Luke are. Somewhere along our way here, I think I may have fallen for my best friend. And that's no other than Luke Hemmings himself.

I pulled the covers up until it hid my head and cried myself to sleep. Why me? Why do I have to feel this way?

Luke's P.O.V (surprise!)

I couldn't tell what was going on through Georgia's head after she saw us. But there's one thing that I saw in her eyes. Pain.

I wanted to approach her and cuddle her until she feels better, but there was something holding me back from doing that. It wasn't Maegan or this Michael guy (even though I don't like seeing him with Georgia). Maybe because I am the cause of her pain.
