At lunch, I still kept thinking about what had happened. I worry about how Jessi feels about me now. I acted kind of rude to her, and she was just trying to help. I sit down at me, Jessi, and Nathan's table. We're close to the popular kids, so Jessi could be close to Ryan. Speaking of, he comes up to our table, and stares into me and Nathan's eyes. He turns to Jessi, and plops down beside her. "Hey, babe. I didn't get to see you before classes, but now I'm here." He winked, and I feel like my heart skipped a beat. Nathan and I glanced at each other, a grossed out look on his face. Ryan and Jessi are kissing now, making me feel uncomfortable and lonely. Nathan pushed his turkey sandwich away, and covered his mouth as if he were going to burst out laughing any second. There were 'oohs' coming from the popular table, and then all of a sudden, I heard loud footsteps, definitely from an adult. Ryan and Jessi quickly pulled themselves apart from each other, blushing, Jessi fixing her hair like she wasn't just about to make out with one of the most popular kids in school.

"Save the PDA for outside of the school." Miss Lee, the English teacher shouted loud enough for everyone to hear. Ryan jerked up from where he was sitting, and pat Jessi's shoulder, running back to the popular table. One guy slapped him on the back, beaming and snickering. Jessi gave me a smirk, but still looked extremely embarrassed. No one expected a popular kid to date one of the artsy kids, so it always seemed a little strange to me.  We sat still in shock, while Jessi and Ryan smiled at each other.

After lunch, as we were walking to our lockers, Nathan elbowed Jessi. "What the heck was that, Jess?"

"Hmm, I dunno. It was just a little something." Jessi said, suspiciously.

"That's so unlike you. Why is he going out with you anyway?" Nathan scoffed.

"Shut. Up. I swear, I'll beat you up." I couldn't tell if Jessi was serious or joking, but I'm pretty sure that she would probably knock him down to the ground.

"Listen. Just hear me out," Nathan put his hands up. "You're supposed to stick to the status quo. High School Musical said so-"

"What point are you trying to prove? We're not in a Disney movie.." Jessi's beginning to get annoyed with him.

"Well, no one expects a popular kid to date... one of us."

"Ryan loves me and I love Ryan. I don't care about your dang opinion." Jessi speeded past the two of us, and I had a feeling she was mad at Nathan for giving his opinion.

Honestly, I agreed with Nathan. I would never tell her how I felt about Ryan, but I just wanted her to be happy. Maybe she was right. They love each other, and I need to stop being so negative towards her boyfriend.
