I'm fine

Heartbreaking oblivion

It felt so nice to wake up in my own bed after two months. I just got back from an internship in Walton an hour away from home and I had to stay at my aunts house for the time. I loved it, don't get me wrong, but nothing companies to the feeling of snuggling up in your own bed at your own home.
I reached for my phone and turned it on to a picture of me and Lee at Christmas just that past year. I smile, I loved Lee so much. He was my first boyfriend and I had nothing but pure love and adoration towards him, I was so in love. Everything about him made me love him even more. we hadn't really talked since I was at the internship, he had a job at a campground up north and barely ever had service to text, let alone call me. But now that we were both back I could finally call him and we could see each other soon. I assured myself. I craved to see him. And kiss him and have his hand to hold.

I got so excited as I quickly pressed "call" on his contact. I hummed as I waited for him to pick up, twirling my dark hair around my finger continuously.
Suddenly the ringing stopped
A notification came up
"Lee is unable to answer your call"
My eyebrows scrunch up.
Another notification rings
" hey Claire, sorry can I please call you back in a bit I have company right now."
I smile as my concern was cleared up quickly.
I quickly text back
"Yeah of course babe"

An hour later I start to grow impatient, what's going, he would've texted me at least by now, I scroll through the multiple texts I had just sent 20 minutes ago, all unread.
I try not to worry about it as I continue about my day.
As I head to bed that night I climb into bed and wrap my blanket around me and hug myself.
He didn't answer all day and I was continuing to wait for his call. I gave up trying to call and text him, I had to wait.
"Screw it"
I sat up quickly and grabbed my phone and pressed call.
It rung. Suddenly the call goes through.

"Hey, Claire. Sorry I got so sidetracked."

"Lee, what the heck I've been waiting all day for you to call. I was hoping we would hang out a bit today.." my voice trailed off.

"Sorry I was really busy unpacking and whatnot."

" I thought you said you had company?" I questioned

" oh, yeah I did this morning. But then I got sidetracked."

" oh, okay. Well how about tomorrow want to come over and we could watch a movie or something?"

"Yeah, of course Claire."

"Okay I would love that, I miss you so much Lee, I have so much to talk to you about."

" I have something to tell you too Claire."
Lee sounded slightly serious but I couldn't tell if he was joking around.

" okay well I'm going to go to sleep love you, goodnight."

"Goodnight Claire."
Was all he said right before he hung up.

My mind and my heart was so confused as I snuggled back into my blanket. What is happening with us? He never really calls me babe or anything like that, but he didn't even say I love you. Little did I know then I was in for the worst heart break ever."
