Prompt: The reader sings at a mutant club. This is the turtle’s first time hearing of this, let’s see how this turns out?

Warnings: None, it might be lowkey trash, though.

Word Count: 5.8k

Side note: The reader is female in this one, but if this gets a good amount of notes, I’ll gladly post a male/gender neutral one. Also, please click the links before each one. They help you understand the way the songs are performed. (I love PostModern Jukebox so much, oh my goodness.)

Enjoy!

“Can I get a gin and tonic?!” A lizard yelled over to the bartender. Y/n nodded her head and gave him a thumbs up.

“Sure thing, Larry!” She replied before going to prepare the alcoholic beverage.

This was life for Y/n. She made drinks for mutants at a club late at night and went home to feed her cat. That was it, no more, no less. She had friends that worked at the club. Performers, bartenders, busboys and such, but she also were friends with the regulars. In fact, that’s where she met her current boyfriend, Donatello.
Donnie came in on Wednesday nights for happy hour. He then started to come in everyday just to talk to Y/n. Eventually, they clicked and they became a really cute couple. Donnie would come in a hour before Y/n’s shift would end to walk her home. It was truly admirable.

“Hey, Y/n!” A voice called to her as she was wiping down the bar with a cloth. She looked up and saw her friend, Ruby a singer at the club, walk up to the bar and lean her elbows on the surface.

“Hey, Rubs. What can I do for you?” She asked with a smile. Ruby was a beautiful woman, with big afro like hair and smooth, dark mocha skin that basically glowed in certain light, and full plump lips that were always covered in some sort of gloss.

“Can I ask you to do me a huge favor?” She asked with a pleading smile.

“And what would that be?” Y/n replied as she threw the cloth in the dirty bin. She grabbed  wet glass and began to dry out the inside, once she didn't hear Ruby reply right away, she looked up and sat the glass back down.

“Do you think you can cover for me tonight?” she steadily asked as she twiddled her thumbs.

“As in like, sing? I don’t know, Ruby. You know how I get-” she started but was interrupted by Ruby gagging. She quickly grabbed a bucket for her to release her fluids in. After she was finished with her business, Y/n handed her a napkin and Ruby began to speak.

“I know, hun, but you're the only one I know that can sing.” Ruby stated while  coughing and wiping her mouth.

Y/n leaned on the bartop and thought about it for moment. Y/n could sing fairly well, the only problem she had was that she had terrible stage fright. Not even Donnie knows that Y/n can sing, the only reason Ruby knows is because she heard Y/n singing as she took the trash out one night. Ever since then, Ruby has been nagging Y/n to get on stage. She wasn't the one for crowds, but since she saw that the entertainment for the night was sick, she decided it was time to show someone her talent.

Y/n sighed and nodded her head slightly, “I’ll do it.” she spoke and Ruby looked up at her with wide eyes.

“Ya will?” Ruby asked beaming, Y/n nodded making Ruby squeal and grab Y/n’s hand.

“Robbie, You got the bar for a bit?” Y/n asked her co worker as she was being dragged away. Robbie gave a curt nod and a smile.

Ruby dragged Y/n to her dressing room and looked through a rack that held multiple outfits and dresses. She held a couple outfits to Y/n’s body and settled on a black skort and a shirt combo.
