She was love bundled in flesh
She was magic in human form
Her words are medicine to ailing hearts
They are glue to a heart torn apart
She was a soul bright as dawn
Carrying within her being—
A voice of love and reason
God’s own child—
Formed in his wonderful and colorful hands
Like a beautiful work of art
Her dazzle was in her simplicity
How she embraced all that she was
She was love in all colors and shapes and sizes
She was love that speaks firmly yet lovingly
To all and sundry
Calling you to peace divine,
Asking you to try happiness
She was magic born of a woman
Raised by a people warm and kind
Some harsh and belligerent
But still she rose
From the pain and struggle
She found love to forgive
From the mean words and tribulation
She found love
to heal many a nation
And still she rose
She was hope to a laden soul
Whispering a word of renewal
Revival and resuscitation
She was grace and poise in one
Speaking wisdom and love
She was a child of God, the great God
Saying love thy neighbor and thyself
As says our Lord
She was love bundled in flesh
With a soul that lives and shall live
Beyond the end of her seeing or breathing
Holding the hands of all that seek love
Being a light to all that fumble in darkness
Rest in Peace Dr. Maya Angelou.
I will miss you and read you and feel inspired each day by all of the love you were, and always will be.
