Krista started sobbing and Darren stroked her back in an effort to comfort her. But it didn't really help. You could tell that Krista must have been good friends with Meg. The way she was mourning her friend's disappearance made you feel no guilt at all. You almost smiled at the scene in front of you. Suddenly you remembered the wolf creature that had killed her. You looked at Penny a bit suspiciously but he was too busy watching the crying girl to notice your stare. "Guys, let's all calm down!" A voice came from the door. Everyone's gaze landed on Maddy. She eyed you and Penny harshly before walking over to Nathan and whispered something into his ear that made him stiffen up. He nodded and turned to everyone. "Maddy and I will leave for a while. We'll be back at dawn." He said and made his way towards the door with the grey wolf next to him. As they exited everyone went back to what they were doing. Krista had calmed down and was slowly retreating to her room probably to cry some more. Ryan walked into the living room making himself at home on the couch and Darren stood in the kitchen, back to work. He was probably finishing up the dishes for dinner. You looked at the clock on the wall. It was 2pm. You thought for a while, looking out the door after the two. Penny gave you a look then the door, and of course he knew what you had in mind. You were gonna follow them, and he knew that. You smirked at him as you noticed his stare. "You in?" You asked him, meaning the two. And of course he nodded. Both of you made your way out of the cabin, careful not to be noticed by the others. You slowly transformed into your fourlegged form and ran over the grass with soft steps, Penny closely following after you. You finally saw Nathan and Maddy walk along the trees, finally crossing the barrier. You gulped. Hopefully you were able to get out now. You knew that with Nathan's help you could get through before, but without him...You sighed as you stopped in front of the barrier. Penny easily made his way through, stopping to look behind him. He stared into your eyes reasurringly as you took a few steps forward. You felt the barrier graze at your soft fur as you closed your eyes and took a deep breath before walking towards it. Your body tingled all over as you crossed. Succesfully. You opened your eyes and sniffed the fresh air of the forest. You wagged your tail at the clown as you were happy to have crossed without complications. Both of you continued your way after them. You had a feeling this would be interesting. Maybe you'd find out something by following them. At least that was what you hoped for. You followed them for about 20mins before Maddy stopped. They were in a clearing now, but where Maddy pointed was way more interesting. In the middle of the field was a statue, probably around 5meters high. It was carved out of stone and was made out of carved animal heads. At the bottom was a cat's head, above was a dog, then a panther followed by a wolf. At the top was a creature unknown to you. It looked like a mix between a wolf and a panther. You weren't sure. The head at the top had claws clawing at both sides of the other heads. It's mouth was open, showing rows of razor sharp teeth. You wondered for a bit as Maddy and Nathan walked up to the statue slowly. Nathan sighed and you listened in. "Why did we go back here? I don't like this place. And you know that." He pointed out to her but she stared at the statue without glancing at him even once. "I know. But you know about the prophesy. And I think it's the girl. And I know you know! Don't try to ignore the feeling! She's dangerous!" She shouted at him and his tail stood on alert. "Maddy. Don't make me angry! The prophesy might not even be true! And if it is..." he looked back up at the statue. "I'll do anything in my power to protect her. She doesn't have to die! We can solve this withou-" "without killing the one who's gonna bring an end to our species?!" Maddy cut in, her words echoing through parts of the deep forest. "The barrier was supposed to keep her kind outside! And what do you do?! Let her walk in as if she was one of us!" She said, slightly growling at him. Nathan started at her. "She IS one of us! Even if it's just a part of her whole being!" He shouted back, pointing at the top of the statue. You stared at them confused. What did they mean prophesy? And what was your part in all of this? You knew you weren't just a beast like the others. And you also knew that you weren't fully an eldritch since you had a few different features than Penny. But what was all of this? You say there among the trees, hiding behind a bush with the clown next to you until the two of them were done. You waited until they left and suddenly ran towards the statue. Penny was about to shout at you as you reached it. He just ran up behind you and looked up at the giant rock carvings in front of you. They were truly mesmerizing from up close. They were carved with care and preciseness which you had never seen before. As you made your way around you noticed the statue's back was different from the front. From the front you could see the animal heads with their different expressions. But from behind... there was the rest of the body of the top animal. It was sitting behind the heads, resting its head on top of the others. One of it's claws was clinging onto the head of the panther and the other to the wolf's head. You stared at it before walking back around. You sighed. Why would a statue like this be in the middle of the forest? And who built it? As you were deep in thought you started staring at the eyes of the unknown beast. As you did, they slowly started to glow and everything around you seemed to fade away.
