CHAPTER 4

THE MAID'S
DAUGHTER

They were seated at the table chatting as we brought in the rest dishes from the kitchen, I stood at the kitchen entrance and watched as kathryn chatted with her mom,

where was morris?

I haven't seen him since this morning and he didn't even come to welcome his own sister what an asshole but thinking about him I was getting pretty curious were he could be at this time of the night,

He had to be somewhere in the house, the meal wouldn't start except the whole family is seated on the table, it was more of a family thing to be exact, I walked away from the kitchen door and went in search for him, he shouldn't be that far, I'm very sure he's aware its dinner time but he rather keeps everyone waiting on him,

I walked out into the corridor and there he was sitting by the edge with a bottle of scotch by his side,

I slowly walked towards him,
I cleared my throat to try and get his attention but he didnt seem to flinch,

*dinner is ready, sir*he just looked up at me and ignored me,

*you know the meal won't start without you*I said walking closer to him,

*what is the deal with you*he said
*I don't understand what you mean*I replied,

*do you plan on keeping us waiting the whole night?*his sister's voice came from behind,

*hello kathyrn*
*I'm not surprised, now can you come to the dinner hall your kingship*she said waiting for him to get up,

I watched as he struggled up and walk ahead of her, she looked at me and smiled before walking behind him.

I stayed outside for a while before walking back inside, I stood by the kitchen and watched as they ate in silence,

Both men of the house were sited at both ends of the dining table like a double edged sword,

Even me got tired of just looking at them,

I walked to my room to bath and sleep,

With a little privilege given to us by sir lugard, I had my own mini room with a mini bathroom,

I opened the tap to run hot water into the tub, I walked back into the room and pulled off my maid uniform,

I let my hair that was wrapped into a pony tail fall freely to my bare skin,

I walked back Into the bathroom and stepped into the tub slowly, I relaxed into the warmness the water provided, I closed my eyes and drifted away.

I heard a faint noise coming from my room door, I tried ignoring it but it wasn't going away,

I opened my eyes and got up from the tub, I walked towards the door with a towel tied around my chest, I opened the door slighting to see who it was,

It was another maid,

*sir lugard wants to see you*she said
I just nodded and shut the door,

What trouble was I in now, i thought
I quickly dried up and slipped the maid uniform I just pulled back on and took in a deep breath before walking out,

His study room was at the other side of the mansion, the only maid allowed to go there was my mama and only her,

I was a little nervous, I arranged myself and kept straightening my uniform with my hands as I walked,

I got to the door of the study and was about to knock when the door flew open,

I was looking at a very pissed Morris his eyes were literally ablaze, he looked at me angrily for a brief moment before storming off,

What did I do wrong?

I was about to knock on the door but his deep voice stopped me,
*come in dear*he said, I pushed the door open and walked in,

The study was big, I stood for a while to take in the enormity of the room before walking to meet him at his desk were he sat, I stood by one of the seats and placed both my hands at my front waiting patiently for the reason why I was here,

*how are you doing?*he asked
He saw me nearly almost every day why does he still ask,

*I'm doing fine sir*I replied,
*youre not in any kind of trouble*he said
Thinking it would help but to me it only made things worst,

*I won't take much of your time, I want to ask you for a favor*he said,

OH GOSH!!!!

That sounded very scary, I just stood and looked waiting on the next thing he was going to say,

*I want you to date my son*.
