Hello beasties, its time for another chapter of the origin of your favorite charming monster! You're probably wondering who the cutie is in that picture, and you're going to find out in this chapter! (Just for a warning, there's going to be some gore.....)
Yer probably wondering about the whole love part of the story I promised, and believe me, I can imagine your complaints. *mocking voice* Hey, what gives? I mean hearing about death and drama is nice and all, but where's the kissin'? *back to normal voice* Well stop your bellyachin' because well, this will probably satisfy you.... *smiles*
A few days had passed since Curtis had learned about his younger sister, and it hadn't taken him that long to convince his father that Margalo was "cured of her outbursts and ready to obey". (As soon as she had been let out of the Birch room, and when they had time alone, Margalo had given Curtis the biggest hug, genuinely surprising him.) It had taken a few days for the shy little girl to warm up to others, and even now she still became nervous when someone got to close to her, but she was beginning to warm up to her new home.
As per usual, their father was busy, giving less time to his children due to the fact that he was busier than usual with running the estate , meeting with other members of the nobility, and taking care of matters of business. (Curtis knew better than to eavesdrop on what went on in those meetings by now.) But the strange thing was, most of these visitors were rather strange from what the siblings had seen of them....
I had no idea what sort of people my father dealt with in his line of business at the time, but there were more than a few notable faces and people......
For example, an older looking gentleman dressed in complete white, with his features and hands handily obscured by a face covering and elbow length gloves, with only the glint of his eye and his monocle visible.
An attractive, elegantly dressed pale man, with dark hair, what seemed to be a mark of a heart on one cheek, and a necklace that had a key with bat wings on it. When he smiled, there seemed to be a glint of something sharp about his teeth.....A/N this is from the Voltaire picture that Daria Cohen did, and he's also mentioned to be Duke's father.....
Two young women with white hair, pale skin, and soft pink eyes, who never seemed to say a word.....
A ebony skinned black man with golden eyes, wearing an elegant deep violet-black suit, and a pair of inaccurately carved earrings that appeared to be made of bone....
A woman who they never had seen directly, but from what they had heard from outside the sitting room where they were passing sounded very sure of herself, and from the shadow that she cast, appeared to have a long pair of ebony horns....(Curtis had briefly heard his father refer to the woman as Maleficent....)
But anyway, with their father busy with his work, and most of the servant's attentions focused elsewhere, the siblings were free to mostly do what they wished, mostly spending their time in the warm summer days outside.
Right at the moment, Curtis was showing Margalo how to defend herself, something he'd been showing her in secret ever since he'd seen those bruises lining her thin arms, probably thanks to Young Crowe. "See, if you want to do it right, you need to do it like this." He showed her how to properly make the fist.
The young girl nodded, narrowed her eyes in concentration, and copied his movements.
Curtis smiled. "You're doing great." Margalo looked at him from under her long bangs.
"Really?" She looked surprised, obviously not used to hearing genuined words of praise from anyone before. Curtis smiled back at her and nodded.
