22. a dream

I washed off my makeup, put on the most comfiest pyjamas on and looked like a mess. It was 8:00pm and we finally settled down after a long day of work. I flicked through the channels to find an old-school show. The Fresh Prince Of Bell-Air. That'll do.

My husband walked into the room, "You look beautiful" he admitted with a huge smile on his face. His eyes looked worn out and his tiredness was clearly visibly through his face. I loved how he complimented me after a whole day of looking my best and dressing decently, when I made no effort at all. He came and sat next to me, gently leaning his head on my right shoulder.

"Babe" I spoke softly. "Yes, my dear?" His raspy voice whispered. "Through all of the troubles we have faced, did you ever think we'd come this far? And eventually be at tranquility."

"I always knew we would. You chased away the darkness from within me. You made life so much better from the day you walked into mine. I knew that if I had you by my side, everything would soon be okay and it is. Through all of the troubles we have faced, you kept me going. Kept us going."
