Taking a deep breath, I got out of the car slowly and made my way inside what looked to be the main building. This school was definitely much bigger and much more intimidating than my last one. Breathe, Norah, breathe. You've got this. I'm honestly not even sure why I'm so nervous. I had lots of friends back home, but I guess seeing as I've been in my old school since I was 5, making friends was kind of a given. People weren't so judgemental back then.

Too focused on putting one foot in front of the other and trying not to trip, I almost collided in a girl as she was quickly making her way out of the building. Both of us briskly jumped back to avoid bumping into each other, but neither of us were lucky seeing as we both ending up tripping on the slippery floors, with her drink spilling all over my white trousers. Ha. I knew I wouldn't have lasted long before an accident took place. Ugh, if only luck was on my side for once.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I should've watched where I was going but it's just that I was late for my training and coach doesn't tolerate tardiness and oh my god I'll be in so much trouble and shit I probably ruined your trousers and-" I cut off her rambling with a chuckle. She was just so tense I couldn't help it. Do I sound like that when I ramble? Probably. I got up, then helped her up as well. What a lovely way to begin this. Note my sarcasm.

"Hey it's okay. Don't worry about the trousers, I have a million other pairs anyway, it's no big deal." I assured her smiling. She slowly relaxed when she realised that I was indeed not upset, then she smiled at me.

"Well in that case, hi I'm Lydia. And you?" She said extending her hand for me to shake. I was surprised that she was introducing herself to be honest. I would've assumed she would be gone by now, but she looked like she wanted to get to know me. Hmm, maybe making friends here won't be as hard as I thought.

"Hey, I'm Norah. I just moved here today." I replied, extending my hand to shake hers. Woah, smooth Norah. I deserve a pat on the back for not stuttering. Okay, I'm a weirdo, now moving on.

"Ooh, a newbie. Welcome to Westwood College. You'll definitely love it here." She replied using a high-pitched, sarcastic tone, sending me in a fit of hysterics. She was pretty funny and we looked like we might get along well together. "I'll definitely be seeing you soon, but for now I really need to run or coach will have my head. It was really nice meeting you Norah. Oh, and a small tip, give Mrs Jennings, the principal, a compliment. If there's someone here you wanna get on their good side, it's definitely her." She said quickly then she scurried away. She was really nice and who knows, maybe I'll love it here after all.

The secretary was nice to me and assured me that Mrs Jennings will be meeting up with me in a minute. Okay. Deep breaths. So far so good. Except maybe for the fact that I have a huge brown stain on my trousers and I smell like coffee but that's alright. They'll have to deal with it.

"Mrs Jennings is ready for you in her office miss Jacobs. Second door down that hallway to your left." The secretary, who I still didn't know the name of, informed me smiling. I got up making my way to the office as instructed. The hallways were extremely silent, you could hear a pin drop, and that did nothing to ease my nerves.

Reaching the door with a sign that read "principal" on it, I knocked twice, then made my way in when I heard a soft come in. I took a deep breath then slowly opened the door making sure I had a smile on my face and that the brown stain on my trousers was hidden by my bag. First impressions are always key and damn I could've fooled anyone right then and there by how confident I looked on the outside. If only they could hear my thoughts...
