Katya's POV

I feel so bad for Trix. I have lauded awake almost all night pretending I was asleep so she could fall asleep. I know how much this is breaking her. I look at the clock. It's 6:45 am. I close my eyes. About 2 minutes later I hear the faint sound of "I'm a Barbie girl" playing in the other room. I got out of bed slowly trying not to disturb Trixie. I go out and look at who's calling her. It's her grandma. I pick up.

K: hey this is katya Trixie is sleeping. She isn't doing well. She is taking it very hard. I figured I would let her sleep instead of bothering her. Is everything ok?
G: Oh no poor Beatrice. She has never done good with trauma. You remember how bad it was after her dad passed. Well anyways, everything is fine. Great actually. Her mom started responding again. She is slowly getting better. The doctors said with chemo and radiation they may be able to help prolong her life. They said by morning she should be sitting up.
K: wow. Oh my god! That's great news!
G: hey do you mind bringing Trixie over here tomorrow morning? Oh and don't tell her about her mom. I talked to her mom and she wants it to be a surprise when she is able to hug her tomorrow.
K: oh perfect! And no I don't mind at all.
G: ok thank you so much katya! Love you.
K:awe I love you too.

I put the phone down in awe. I didn't know what to think. Or what to do. Hopefully Trixie is feeling better in the morning because I'm gonna take her out for a nice breakfast and pick up some flowers and stuff to bring to her mom.

I go back into the room quietly making sure I don't wake her up. Before I lay down I just look at her. Her mess of pink curls just laying there, her body so still and peaceful. The little snore she makes because she is a bit congested. The little things about her make me so happy. I can't believe she is mine. I eventually lay back down in bed. She rustles a bit and reaches her arm out. I know what this means. I grab her and cuddle with her. Eventually we fall back asleep.

I wake up to my alarm at 9:30 am. I get up but Trixie doesn't budge. I tap her to wake her up.

"Trixie my love, it's time to get up."
"I don't even wanna get out of bed"
"I have something fun planned for today."
"Ugh alright. But I get shower first!"

Just then she springs out of bed. Almost like she forgot what happens yesterday. I could tell that once she got into the bathroom everything from yesterday came back because her demeanor changed. Not by much though. I knew she was handling this a bit better.

At around 10:15 we leave the house. I take Trixie to this cute little diner by our house that has the best pancakes. We end up sharing a bunch and then leaving. I then took her to the grocery store to by a bear and some flowers.

Kat, I would love to by flowers, but why spend money on something she may never see?
Oh Trix don't worry about it. Ooh those ones over there are pretty!

She runs over and grabs them. I grab a cute little get well soon teddy bear and then we pay and head out.

We get up to her floor and start walking towards the door. Trixie grabs onto my arm. I knew it was for comfort so I put my hand on her. Then we were in front of her door. I started walking but Trixie was hesitant.

"I don't think I can do this Kat."
"Why not Trix?"
"I don't think I can look at her laying there like that"
"Well maybe you don't have to"

I open the door and there was her mom sitting up and talking to her grandma.

"Hey Trix"

Trixie starts crying and runs over to her mom. She grabs her and they hug forever. I could feel tears start to form in my eyes. I guess I let one escape because her mom goes

"Awe Kat come here"

I felt so happy for not only Trix but her mom. I knew her mom was stronger than this and was gonna fight through hell to prove that she's always right.
