"Ah, let's take a break!"Kobi yanked Tina towards him, making her yelp in surprise. "Hey! I was about to pick up this piece of paper!" she groaned.
Tina sat atop of Kobi, making it hard for Kobi to see what she held to her hands.
"Paper? Sounds important. Go pick it up." he told her.
Tina knelt down and picked up the piece of paper, which was damaged and dirtied.
She sat next to him on the ground, and unfolded it.
"What's written, Mr. Kobi?" she asked him, pointing towards the paper.
"You can't read?" he asked back.
"I think I can read, but I might've forgotten it along with everything else about me." she said, still staring at the piece of paper.
"Hmm...," he says in amusement. Just how much has she forgotten? They really got her, huh.
"There really isn't much words written down. It says, "Lunch is inside the fridge. Just oven it. P-S, I'm going home late, so don't stay up waiting, love. Dash, Mama.". It seems like a note — "
He fell silent after seeing tears fall from Tina's eyes. It surprised him, to the point that he was speechless.
Kobi didn't have any idea what he should do. Speaking came to him as an act of insensitivity, so he kept silent.
All he could do was place an arm over her small shoulders.
I guess....this note about lunch is important, huh. Is she sad that the fridge is gone? He thought, trying not to look at her.
"The — The cactuses. The cacti."
He immediately became alarmed. "Oh, the cactus, what about them?"
She sniffed and wiped her eyes with her arm. "They're really cute." she smiled, pointing the pots of cacti on the note.
Kobi nodded. "I'll give you one of my t-shirts with cactus prints."
Tina smiled wider and leaned over his shoulder.
"Thank you, Mr. Kobi."
Kobi looked at her, his cheeks feeling warm. When he was about to say something, she cut him off. "By the way, I've remembered something;"
She smiled. "The number fifteen...is the date of my birthday."
