Amano's POV

~A couple weeks later~

Today was going great until the third period. After I gave Kei his phone I thought we would part as unlikely friends/never talk to each other again. Not according to Mrs. Kobayashi apparently; my ASL teacher; because this is what happened in the third period.

"Alright class, I am assigning a mini project over the weekend." Mrs. Kobayashi stated.

The whole class booed. Me. I was okay with it.

"It will be a group project about Helen Keller." Mrs. Kobayashi declared.

The whole class bubbled with excitement. Me. I wasn't okay with it anymore. I don't want other people dragging me down.

"Before you all get excited, I will be assigning the partners." Mrs. Kobayashi announced.

I dreadfully waited until my name was called, as Mrs. Kobayashi read off the list.

"Amano Akiyama with...................Kei Takiyama." Mrs. Kobayashi publicized.

NO.

I and Kei instantly looked at each other. Then quickly looked away from each other, startled by the sudden eye contact.

When Mrs. Kobayashi finished pairing everybody she said:

"You will do this project over the weekend, you are required to create 3 questions per group on your section. These questions should be from your presentation. The questions should be challenging and may not be factual. Your google slide will be graded on:

•Do you have a sufficient amount of information from the text? 30 points.

•Did everyone in your group speak? 20 points.

•Did you include your 3 question from your presentation? 30 points.

•Were you able to hold a class discussion? 40 points.

•Was your group adequately prepared? 20 points.

•Could you answer all the questions you were asked? 10 points.

Now get into your groups. You have the rest of the period to plan!"

I grabbed my bag and walked over to where Kei was sitting. I then looked at him for approval to sit next to him, because trust me you never want to get into a situation where you sat next to someone who didn't want you sitting next to them.

Kei nodded towards the seat next to him so I proceeded to sit next to him.

"S-So." I started but lost my courage.

"So what? Do you have an idea or what?" Kei egged on.

"S-So I-I wa-was th-th-th-thinking tha-that I-I could d-do the information pa-part a-a-and yy-you c-could d-do th-the de-design." I managed to get out.

"That sounds like a good idea. I'm not really good at doing the information part, but I could do the design part. And your really smart so you could do the information part." Kei summarized.

"Yea-Yeah." I stuttered.

"Cool." Kei said before the bell rang, "Well, see you later."

"B-Bye," I said.
