I could feel my new air forces creasing up as I was bent down shooting dice on the block with some niggas from school. Mari stood to the left of me talking cash shit which was hyping me up. I rolled my shoulders before tossing the dice and snapping my fingers as they landed on the broken concrete.
I rolled a solid 7 and smiled as Mari laughed loudly while pulling on me like we had just won the lottery or some shit. "Double up." The nigga I was shooting against said. I didn't like his tone and I could tell he was bitter cause I was up $500 on him.
"Double up then nigga." I said, never taking my eyes off him while I tossed the money in. He did the same while eyeing me intently. I knew I'd end up fighting him, I could feel the adrenaline rush coming already. After winning again I was collecting my cash and rolling it up so that it would fit in the pocket of my jeans.
As I stood to my feet, I pulled my sagging jeans up and briefly glanced at the nigga to see him walking off with his niggas. Mari walked next to me shaking some skittles around in his hand before dumping them into his mouth.
"I thought I was gon have to hit that nigga in his shit." I said while smoothing my shirt out. It was a lil breezy out and I ain't have a hoodie on so I was starting to get cold. I shoved my hands in the pockets of my jeans while continuing to walk.
"What you trynna get into?" I finally say after a while of not talking and Mari shrugged his shoulders while dumping more skittles into his mouth. "I wanna rob somebody." I said and Mari continued to walk in silence so I took it as a chance to keep talking.
"If we plot on the right person we could come up on a lot. Nigga you can pay off school, get a new whip, blow that shit, or whatever you wanna do with it." I explained and Mari looked over at me with a look I couldn't quite read.
"Both of our school gon get paid regardless. If we want a new whip all we gotta do is ask for it, and whenever we wanna blow through some money Mani just a call away." He said, stopping in his tracks and I stopped walking too.
"So what you saying?" I asked, folding my arms over my chest. "I'm saying we don't need to be robbing niggas when our future at stake like this. We just a couple youngins, bro. If some shit go left and we go down for murder or something it's over with. We gon be stuck in this shit forever." Mari said with some aggression in his voice and I stood there nodding as if I was really listening, and I was, I ju' wasn't trynna hear him.
Robbing became something like a hobby to me. I gave up sports and now I ju' wanna be in the streets forever. Whoever didn't like it could bite dick for all I care.
He continued walking and I did the same listening as he smacked on them skittles. Ahead I could see a group of girls walking and immediately recognized Jamirah. She was dressed in ripped jeans, a jean jacket with a hoodie underneath, and Timbs. Her hair was flat ironed bone straight and reached the center of her back.
"Yo, you listening?" Mari says, breaking me from my trance. I looked away from Jamirah and at Mari who was finishing off his skittles.
"I wanna hit a party tonight." He says and I smiled.
"Bet. I already got one in mind."

"After this one I'm done for real." Mari said as his words slurred together and I gave him a unsure look as I drank the last of whatever I had in my cup.
