~Jeremy's POV~

Even after he was out of sight and I stopped waving, I kept the door open and leaned on the door frame. It started to get chilly, so I went inside. My dad was waiting in the kitchen, with pants for once! "Hey Jeremy," He said, "you're looking all nice and happy. That's good!" "Oh, y-yeah, I'm just glad for this whole thing to be over and things return to normal!" I responded as an excuse because I didn't actually know quite why I was so happy all of a sudden.

"Hey, I just wanted you to know, I-I'm sorry I haven't been the greatest dad for...a while now. It's not fair to you, and- I promise I'll be better now. I don't fully understand what you've just gone through, but I feel like you might have done it partially because of me... or a lot because of me. I just, I guess what I'm trying to say is... I'm sorry. I'm really, really sorry." He confessed. "Oh, dad. No, it's okay. I- let's just try to be better now, yeah?" I responded, the mood of the room getting very sentimental. "Yeah, I promise." He said sincerely.

After a couple of seconds, I said, "Well, I'm gonna go to my room, it's getting kinda late." "Alright champ, goodnight," he responded. "Night!" I called after him as I walked to my room.

~A couple hours later~

"I've been on my phone way too long," I thought to myself. I looked at the time, it was midnight now. "I've really got to get to bed now." I'd been looking at my phone for at least 6 hours now, and my eyes were starting to hurt from it. I turned to plug my phone in before I went to sleep but noticed something odd. "W-what!?" I said aloud in confusion. My phone's battery hadn't gone down at all. "What!? That's just impossible. Must be a glitch," I thought as I turned my phone on and off to try and fix it. "Huh, it still says 100%, that's really weird." I thought.

"Hahaha, you're so confused!" Someone called out. "AH, WHAT THE HELL!" I screamed. "Hahaha! You're hilarious, Jeremy," the voice said in response. "W-who's there!?" I called out to the voice. "Oh, you know who I am Jeremy. C'mon, think hard." The voice said threateningly. "Uhh... You sound like the squip... B-but that's... That's impossible!" I said, my voice quavering with fear. "But is it?" The voice said as it appeared in front of me. "AHH" I screamed as it appeared, "Don't scare me like that!" It *was* the squip! "H-h-how are you h-here!? W-we got rid of you!" I said, terrified. He laughed menacingly. "You can't get rid of me that easily, Jeremy." "P-please. J-just go away. I don't want you here," I said, about to cry. "Pathetic..." He responded. "I hate you," I said. "Well, would you hate me less if I explained why your phone isn't losing battery?" He asked, his voice sounding less terrifying. "W-what?" I responded, "I mean, I guess."

"Well, you've always had powers, I guess getting a squip just activated them," he told me. "I... I'm not sure I understand. What do you mean I've always had powers?" I asked. "Well, as your squip, I was able to see things in your mind that you aren't even able to see. One thing I noticed is that you have powers, having powers is getting more common now, you know? Well, you've always had powers but they have never been activated for some reason. I guess that getting a squip, and then 'getting rid' of the squip must have activated them. But I'm rambling and that's beyond the point. You have electricity powers, Jeremy" He explained to me. "Uhh, well why didn't you tell me before?" I asked, still very confused. "Well, it didn't align with my ultimate goal: to have everyone have squips, so it wasn't necessary." He said. "Wuh? Then why are you telling me now?" I demanded, getting a bit impatient.

"Well, in a way, I am no longer your squip. I'm a part of your brain is how I'd explain it I guess. I can't control your movements, or vision, or anything like that. But I can talk to you!" He said excitedly. "Oh, great..." I said sarcastically. "Aw, c'mon Jeremy. I promise I won't try to ruin your life now." He said promisingly. "Whatever." I said, "do you at least know what I can do with my powers?" "Ah, not exactly, but you do seem to be able to charge things when you hold them, I bet you can use appliances while they aren't plugged in. You might even be able to shoot lightning if you practice enough!" He speculated. My eyes widened at the lightning comment, "that sounds... Scary," I told him. "Well, I don't think it's too much to worry about for now. It'll actually be cool not to have to charge your phone, don't you think?" He reassured me. "Ehh, I dunno. With you gone, things were just getting normal. Now, this? I wish I could tell someone about this. Or even better, I wish I could tell Michael about it." I said, flopping onto my bed in defeat.

"Why can't you tell Michael?" The squip asked inquisitively. "Have you ever watched a superhero movie?!?" I said, sighing, "I have to keep a secret identity. Keep my powers a secret. So I can't tell Michael. Man, I wish I could though." "Aww, why can't you talk to me about it. We can become best friends now!" He complained. "Okay, it is *really* weird with you being all nice to me now," I said with obvious uncomfortableness. "Fine, I'll just leave you to deal with this by yourself then." The squip said somewhat sarcastically as he shrugged his shoulders and turned away from me while crossing his arms.

"Wait!" I said as I saw him start the fade away. "Oh, what is it, Jeremy?" The squip inquired clingingly. "I- ugh." I started. "Hmm?" The squip was acting like a puppy now, putting his hands at my bedside seeming very interested in every breath I took. "Uhh... Fine. You can stay." I said finally, his behavior was really creeping me out. "Yay! You do care about me!" He said, jumping up in excitement. "It's only because I feel guilty," I said defiantly. "Aww whatever," The squip responded sadly.

"Well, I guess you should get to sleep, huh," he said, changing the subject. "I mean... Yes, but I can't really get to sleep now. This whole 'having powers' thing has shocked me a ton." I said. "Oh, pun not intended heh," I added, realizing what I did.

"Haha, well I guess we could talk for a bit until you get tired." The squip said. "Yeah. I guess so." I said and we waited in awkward silence for a couple of seconds. "Hey, I think it's weird for me to just call you 'the squip,'" I finally said, doing air quotes around "the squip." "Hmm, I guess that makes sense," he replied. "Is there a name you'd prefer?" I asked. After a couple of seconds of thinking, he responded, "Eric... Yeah, I like the name, Eric." "Well, alrighty then, Eric, what do you wanna talk about?"
