~Jeremy's POV~

My eyes flutter open to the sunlight pooling in through my window. I reach my hands up to wipe the sleep out of my eyes. "Oh good, you're awake!"

"GAHH" I screamed. "Did you forget I was still here?" Eric snickered. "Not necessarily," I replied, the sleep still rubbing off, "I just didn't think you'd be... Waiting for me to wake up..... That's really creepy, dude..." "whaat? I was just really bored!" He defended himself. "Yeah, still not quite used to you being so... Perky and.. nice," I said getting out of bed.

"Well, what do you want to do? I think we should try out your powers! Oo or we could-" I cut Eric off by saying, "maybe just start with breakfast?" "Oh, that works too, heh" he replied. What am I going to do with him? I headed into the kitchen to eat. I saw a little note on the counter that read, "Went job hunting, I'll be back later. -Dad" "Oh my gosh, that's amazing!" I said aloud, proud of my dad deciding to get a life. "Aww, that's nice" Eric added. I walked over to the cupboard to get a cereal bowl down.

As I grabbed a bowl I heard the doorbell ring. It scared me and the bowl slipped out of my hands and shattered on the floor. "Shit.." I murmured. "Good job," Eric joked. "Ehh, whatever. I'll clean it up later. Who could be at the door?" I wondered aloud. "I dunno, go see," Eric said.

I cautiously approached the door and looked through the window next to the door to see who could possibly be there. I saw three men in tuxes with dark sunglasses standing very formally yet ominously. I decided to take my chances and opened the door for them. "Hello, sir," The man standing in the middle of them said, "We are THP, The Hero Project. We are here because you are a power-wielding being. At THP We have a mission to make the whole world much safer, which is why we ask you to remain calm as we explain to you what being a power-wielding being means in these times." "Wa-wa-wai-wait. How do you know I have powers?!" I said, terribly confused, "I only just found out about them myself yesterday at midnight!" "We have our ways." He explained, adding to my confusion. "Well alrighty then. What're you all about?" I asked him to continue.

"First we will train you for about one month. Then you will try to get through the test. The test is a test to see if you will not be a danger to the world. We want to make sure that people with powers either become a superhero for us or do not become a supervillain. After you pass the test, and it could take a long time, you compete with the other power wielders to become one of our two superheroes. The more logistic parts will be explained at the assembly when you arrive at the camp." He explained. "Wha- that's so long. I don't know if I can do that. I don't want to be away from Mi- my friends. I'll miss them too much." I complained.

"That's completely fine. If you do not wish to go through the elimination process to become a superhero, you can just go home after you get through the test. But it is mandatory that you do the test to get home." He clarified. "Oh, well okay. I guess that's fine. How long will it take then?" I said sadly. I wanted to spend most of my summer with Michael. Now I'm not going to be able to spend any of it with him. And maybe not even be here for the beginning of my junior year! How would I explain it to him?

"Most likely just the duration of the summer. Depends on how long it takes for you to get through the test. But if you get through it within the first week of the test being active, you'll probably even have a couple of weeks left in your summer." He told me. "Okay," I said. That was a huge relief. I'll just have to work really hard to pass the test quickly. "Anything else?" I asked.

"Yes, we will be here at 5:45 p.m. tomorrow to pick you up. Pack a bag or two with some things that you want. We don't want to limit how much you bring because we want you to be comfortable, but please be wary that you will have to carry all of your things with you until you get your room. I'll give you time to pack now. Good day sir." And he closed the door for me.
