It was a sunny afternoon.
There was a narrow intersection.
There was a pale boy riding his bicycle.
There was a blue-eyed girl walking across the road.
There was a brunet illegally driving his dad's car. There was a mistake in time.
There was an erased line thy connects all points of three.*****************************************************
The girl was wearing a headset, and she walked slowly. It was a lazy, quiet afternoon in autumn when the leaves fell in slow motion. The blue-eyed girl stopped in the middle of the road, and took out her flip phone to take a picture of the dry leaves falling from the tree. She gazes lifelessly at the leafless trees.
She didn't hear the car approaching the intersection.
The pale boy rides his bike everyday to school. His classes starts at the afternoon, so he takes his time pedalling everyday, specially when he reaches the small intersection down the street. He closes his eyes, enjoying the breeze of the autumn wind on his face. He lets his bike roll down the street, not pedalling anymore but keeping his fingers on the brakes. He smiles.
He does this often. He feels like he's flying.
The brunet will step on the gas, like his life depends on it. He'll grip the steering wheel so tight that his knuckles will turn white. He'll clench his teeth hard as he thinks of reasons to hate his father and how to curse him. He'll wipe his tears of frustration harshly, and his eyes will take a few seconds to adjust. The car will speed up, but he will feel like everything is in slow motion, as the car approaches the girl. He will not be mad- his curse words will be forgotten. He'll be genuinely concerned for the girl he almost hit, and for the boy who crashed into the side of his car.
He'll ask the blue-eyed girl if she's okay. He'll help the pale boy, who crashed his bicycle on the side of the car.

They never met each other again until the next school year, where they all went to the same high school. The three of them were in the same class and they recognized each other's faces.
The blue-eyed girl was a very stoic person. She never had close friends and when the pale boy asked her and the brunet if they wanted to be friends with him, she was slightly shaken. It all felt strange, having friends. It's unfamiliar. She thought that it'll just probably give her a hard time someday, and it made her feel something awful at the pit of her stomach.
But she thought she'd try.
The brunet scrunched his forehead in confusion. Friends? He doesn't have the need or the want to have those. Based on what he's observed from his father, friends are a waste of time- they're disappointments and more often than not, they're the ones that'll kill you in the end.
But his father taught him to keep useful people close. The pale boy and blue-eyed girl might be useful soon.
He agreed. The way the pale boy's eyes lit up, when they said they'd like to be friends with him, was indescribable. He cannot explain the happiness in his chest either. Or the wide smile that he can't seem to shake off. His sister told him to not have friends, that he should only trust himself. What could go wrong? Meeting the brunet and the blue-eyed girl again after months couldn't be coincidence anymore.
He felt overwhelming happiness, and a bit of unease.

The three of them would be close friends. Closer than they ever intended. The blue-eyed girl joined the Ballet Club, and the other two would come to recitals to cheer her on. The pale-boy joined the Music Club, where the other two would visit and listen to him play the piano. The brunet joined the volleyball team, and the other two would come to their games and cheer him. They'd study altogether for exams, quizzes, and assignments. Hang out on weekends. Teach the pale boy to play video games, then they'd play together. Walk to school together in the morning. Eat lunch together. Laugh at tagged memes. All that.
They were happy.
The blue-eyed girl felt comfort with them.
She felt at home with the boys.
The brunet loved them both, and thought that maybe having friends isn't a waste of time at all.
The pale boy set his uneasiness aside, and he learned to trust the others. They loved taking pictures and videos. The girl was the one who kept all their photos. From their first picture when they became friends, back in 1st year up to their last one.
They remained friends until their 3rd year. They took the last picture on the same spot they became friends. On the rooftop.
They had no idea that it was the last one.

The girl was wearing headphones, and she walked slowly. It was a cold, quiet morning in winter, and snow fell in slow motion. The blue-eyed girl stopped in the middle of the sidewalk, and took out her smartphone to take a slo-mo video of the falling snow. She smiled and closed her eyes, letting the snow fall in her face.
She heard the screeching wheels of the car, but it was all too late.
The pale boy immediately clutched the brakes and let go of his bike when he reached the small intersection down the street. His eyes widen, as he sees her body get hit by the black car. Like she was just a rag doll thrown across the sidewalk. He lets his bike fall on the ground, as he ran to her. His voice won't come out. Or his tears. Her blue, blank eyes stare back at him. Her blood mixed with the thin layer of snow that covered the ground.
He repeatedly mouths her name. He feels like he's dying.
The brunet will step on the gas, as her life depended on it. He'll grip the steering wheel so tight that his knuckles will turn white. He'll clench his teeth hard as he thinks of ways to make the person that hit her go to jail. He won't wipe his tears of frustration, and his eyes will sting with hateful tears. The car will speed up, but he will feel like everything is in slow motion; too slow. Not enough speed to get her to the hospital. He'll ask the pale boy that held the girl if she's still breathing. The pale boy's answers will be silent sobs, as he held the girl with his bloodstained hands.
He'll beg the girl to be okay. He utters a silent prayer. He listens to the pale boy's sobs.
