Natsu's POV

I stood in front of FairyTail, well, what was left of it. Everyone was outside except for one person.

Lucy...

I turn around looking for her. Where is she?  I'm frantically looking and calling out her name until a very light voice spoke.
"Natsu..." I knew that voice, it was her voice. Lucy.
"Lucy?! Where are you?!" I frantically yell trying to dig through the rubble.
"Natsu, I don't want to die.... don't let me die..." She spoke out in a raspy voice. My sharp ears couldn't pick up her breathing.

No.
No.
No.

Please be alive.

I dig through more rubble until I find her. Her legs squashed under a cement beam. One of her arms was missing... I looked closer and realized it was the one with her guild mark.

My eyes widen and I try to lift up the beam.
"AHHHH" I yell as I lift it up and throw it.
"Luce? Wake up!!"  I hold her in my arms but I can't hear her breathing, or her heart...
"Luce..." I whisper, "You can't leave me, we're a team... remember. No... come on Luce, wake up, we'll go on a mission together. I promise. Please. I love you dammit. I loved you the day I met you but I never told you because I thought you wouldn't like me back..." I cried while holding onto her cold body tightly. Everyone in the guild looked at the two with watery eyes, if they weren't crying already.

Tears streaming down my face while I yelled and screamed. All of our memories together replayed in my head. Her smile, her eyes, her beautiful golden hair, everything, gone. Her last words were "I don't want to die." And yet I failed her. I failed future Lucy and now my Lucy. And she won't ever know my true feelings towards her. I felt the large arms of someone dragging me away from her while Gray carried Lucy out of the rubble and towards Wendy so that Lucy would look "Normal" when buried. I thrashed in whoever's arms I was in. Screaming and yelling, choking on my sobs, trying to get back to Lucy.
"Calm down Natsu." The person who held me said. I knew that voice, it belonged to non-other than Gildarts.
"I CAN'T CALM DOWN!" I screamed, "I NEED TO SEE HER! LET. ME. GOOO!!" I yelled even louder. Saying each word with a pant from trying to run away.

All I could see was Lucy. Her body grey from the powders of rubble. The place where her arm should be, where her guildmark lived. Her legs that were bent in ways that I knew could have been painful.

'Whoever attacked the guild is as good as dead' I thought as I felt my skin grow dark scales, my teeth sharpening, horns growing out of my head. I knew this wasn't my dragon force, because I had already unlocked it. No, this form was way more powerful. I finally escaped Gildarts grasp and grew wings.

The next thing I see is fire and dead bodies of those who attacked fairytail, those who killed my best friend, the one I loved. I looked around and saw the terrified faces of my guild mates until my eyes laid upon the body of my favorite Celestial mage, covered in a cloth to his her face.

I ran up to her and took off the cloth. "She doesn't need this, she's not dead." I say as I felt myself change back to normal. "She's not dead, I made a promise. She's not dead." I repeat over and over, slowly going insane.

I woke up with a gasp. I looked around and saw that I was in Lucy's apartment. Panting I looked down and saw that my body was covered in sweat, Lucy right beside me sleeping. I sighed in relief and slowly laid back down and pulled Lucy into my arms. I kissed the top of her head and held her closer to my body to make sure she was real. That she didn't die. It was all a dream. "It was just a dream..." I mumble lightly to not wake up Lucy, but that ended up failing since she moaned and her eyes fluttered open.

"Hey, you okay? You're sweating and panting. Was it a dream?" She asked looking up at me, her hands cupping me face.

"Shh, it's okay go back to sleep." I said quietly.

"No, talk to me please, I'm your best friend, please talk. Is there something bothering you?"

I held her tightly and rested my head in the crook of her neck, inhaling her sweet sent.

"I had a nightmare." I whispered, my lips touching her neck as a spoke.
"About what?" She softly asked as she wrapped her arms around my torso.
"You. You died..."  my grip on her loosened and i looked up to see her face. She looked into my eyes with a concerned expression. She then smiled and said, "You know I won't leave you, you're my partner, we still have many adventures together." I smiled and we found our faces inching closer. Her eyes closed and she leaned in and i found myself doing the same.

Our lips met and at first it was sweet, but then it became more heated and passionate. When we broke away from the kiss there was a trail of saliva connecting out mouths. She laid her head on my arm and snuggled into my chest. Her breathing became calm and I knew she fell asleep. My head rested on top of hers. 'Maybe my nightmare will just stay a dream. There's already one thing that didn't happen. She knows my feelings, in the dream she didn't know.' I went to sleep not knowing the nightmare that would happen tomorrow, but all I cared about was the kiss as I slowly drifted off into darkness.
