Chapter One

The hot water rained down on me, stinging where it hit my ice cold skin. My hands were clenched into tight fists, I starred down at them through slitted eyes. Watching as the blood from under my nails washed down, clouding the water bright red at my feet. The hot thick steam made it almost impossible to breathe, leaving me in constant coughing fits. As I turned to shut off the water, the dimmed lights bounced off the back of my palm, leaving me baffled from the rainbows that bounced around the room. But it is only a pretty mask that hides a hideous truth.

The unusual loud sounds on the other side of the door caught my attention. Banging of something metallic, maybe a pan. I shrugged it off although it was out of character for my mother to be handling her 'precious' kitchen utensils without care. I reached for my leather fingerless gloves and pulled them over my mark adding a goth touch to my otherwise normal schoolboy appearance.

I sat behind my computer desk bored, watching the loading bar etch near the end. Out of boredom I became amused by spinning myself around on the wheely chair until my stomach threatened to throw up my lunch. A sharp rap on the door interrupted my spin half way. Fumbling for the mouse I minimized the window and yelled out for my mother to go away. She always walked away with a sigh assuming that I had better things in my life than her. I was acting ungrateful but sometimes clingy parents get awfully annoying.

This time, instead of hearing the light foot steps fade away the door slammed open, hitting the wall. Startled, I shouted out a curse and spun in my chair to face the intruder. I was expecting my mum not what stood in the door way making their way toward me.

An over weight balding man tutted under his breath. Under his small piggy nose was a thin black mustache and somewhere lost in his ginormous forehead lay two beady black eyes. He looked kind of like a man who would con you into buying something expensive then disappearing before you realize it wasn't worth its value. On his right was a man- a boy with short stylized black curls falling just above his eye brows and at the nape of his neck. His eyes were hidden behind black shades and he had a cane in his left hand, I guessed he was blind but he seemed to be gazing my way like he was fascinated. On the left side of the bald man stood a tall woman with black hair pulled back from her face in a tight bun. On first impression, the sight of her annoyed me. I thought she wanted to look like woman of high authority and discipline. She was trying a little to hard. Her expression was cold as our eyes connected.

The bald mans tutting grew louder, "You've done it now, boy."

He laughed as if I knew what he was talking about. Like this was our second or third meeting and I was no longer being warned.

"And what might that be?" I asked, my voice more confident then I expected.

The tall women stepped forward, her face set with no emotion. "It might be, the law you violated when you decided to click the download button a few minutes ago. Or when you hacked into your teachers profiles and improved your history grades."

She was right, but I didn't understand why I was being found out now. Nor if these crimes were that unforgivable that the punishments were harsh. They seemed too serious. I couldn't imagine being cuffed and dragged off to jail for this.

"And thats the reason you tear down my house? Because I wanted to improve my grades. It might be foolish but this isn't really necessary. In fact-"

"Thats enough, Mr Lattedeen. You have the right to remain silent, anything you say-" He gave an amused look to the tall lady, "Can and will be used against you in the court of law."
