"I'm pregnant!"

The whole household came to silence. Even the sound of breathing echoed which made the atmosphere scary and gloomy. Meera stood still. She didn't expect herself to blurt out the truth without any preparation. It was so sudden that it caught everyone off guard. Her father was shocked while her mother scoffed.

"After what you did, it was bound to happen! I can't believe that you could do something like this Meera. You've disappointed me." Her mother broke down. Her knees hit the floor as she cried at the loss of her daughter. Mr Suri could only fight back his tears. "Let's go." He gripped Meera's wrist tightly and pulled her behind him. He didn't even see if she was hurt or not. He just dragged her like a rag doll.

"Where are you going?" Mrs Suri asked confused. She followed them down the stairs as her husband didn't reply. "Papa please!" Meera was crying again. She has never seen her father this angry. He didn't reply. He roughly pushed her inside the car and locked the door. "Where are you taking her?!" Mrs Suri asked again. She was restless. 

"That baby .... shouldn't..." he sighed in the end. He couldn't complete his sentence. "She has to .." as a father it was surely difficult for him. But he had to, for the sake of his daughter.

Meera's eyes widened. She wanted the same thing but now that she is actually going for it, she was more than scared. Her heart was telling her to run out of the car. Do something! You can't let your baby die! She shook her head. No, I can't let my parents down. Her breathing became shallower. Meera! You could do this! It's your baby! How can you be so heartless?!

In the midst of the conflicting thoughts, she didn't even realise that the car stopped. Her father pulled her out of the car as they hurried to the doctor. Mrs Suri was with Meera while Mr Suri privately talked to the doctor about the matter. Soon she got changed and was taken inside the hospital room. On her way to the room she saw a mother. Her baby was in her arms as she was rocking the baby back and forth. That scene triggered something inside her. Motherhood.

"I want to keep the baby." She said softly that only the nurses around her heard her.

"What?" Mrs Suri asked. She raised a brow at her. "What did you just say?"

"I want to keep the baby." This time her voice was loud and clear, filled with confidence. But for her parents it had a challenging tone. Mr Suri rubbed his forehead. "Meera. Lie down on the bed and let the doctors take care of the matter. Don't defy me or it won't be good for any of us." His tone was laced with venom. But Meera didn't flinch.

"No!" She tried to move past them but the nurses held her on time. The doctor said something to the parents. They nodded and left the room. Meera was forced on the bed as the nurses tried to keep her steady. "Meera it won't hurt." The doctor said.

The girl was crying. Her eyes were red and swollen but that didn't stop her from shouting and screaming. "No! I want this baby! Please!"
No one listened to her pleas. She moved her body violently when the doctor prepared an injection to make her sleep for the time. "No! Stop! I don't want this! Help! NO!" The doctor moved closer to her ready to inject the liquid in her body. She was sympathetically looking at the girl on the bed. She didn't want to take away the baby from her but she was asked to do it. It was her duty. She had to keep her emotions aside.
