Okay, this is my first hate, because it’s something I feel strongly about. It also ties up with people who quote things but have never seen the actual movie or read the book.
IF YOU’RE GOING TO QUOTE A MOVIE, GET IT FREAKIN RIGHT!
OK? There it’s out. Phew.
It just straight up annoys me!
Here is a few examples to help you see my point:
Let’s start off with the all-time famous (stupidly misquoted) quote from ‘A Few Good Men’. For those of you who don’t know, the quote is “You WANT the truth?” “You CAN’T handle the truth!”
Jack Nicholson actually says "You want answers?" Then Tom Cruise says "I think I'm entitled to them!" Nicholson asks again "You want answers?" To which Cruise replies "I want the truth!"
It is only then that Nicholson says the famous line "You can't handle the truth!"
Another example is the quote from Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back“
“Luke, I am your Father”
This is NOT how the goddamn quote goes. It actually reads:
Darth Vader: "Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father.”
Luke Skywalker: "He told me enough. He told me you killed him." Darth Vader: "No. I am your father."
Another totally misquoted quote is from ‘Apollo 13’, the quote is actually “Ah, Houston, we’ve had a problem”
NOT “Houston, we have a problem” < present tense! >:(
Gahhhh this just straight up annoys the living crap out of me!
And yet another one is from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Misquote: “Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?”
Actual quote: “Magic Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?”
See what I mean? Why does this happen!? God, it is so annoying!!! Seriously, screen writers spend up to weeks writing the script, with the dream of it becoming a block buster movie and for it to be quoted generations to come.
And what do they get for their slavery? Idiots who mess up the quote! How hard is it to mess up a quote?! Does your brain do something where it interprets 'no' into 'Luke'?!! For the record, I’m not really hating on people who haven’t seen the movie and quote it wrong (the fact that they quote it at all still annoys me, but I’ll save that for another day) but I’m ‘hating’ on the people who have seen the goddamned movie and still don’t quote it correctly!
Vote if you also hate this
