"Wait, so he really did get her pregnant?!" I exclaim in surprise, asking my cousin and best friend Hyla over the phone while on break

"Yep," she tells me flatly

"Na-Na's gonna 'ave 'is hyde," I chuckle at the predicament my cousin Ace got himself into

"It ain't funny C," Hyla scolds me, "this serious, they're only thirteen!"

"What're y'all yellin' fur?!" I snap at her, "it ain't my fault they decided ta cut class the day they were suppose ta learn how ta use condoms."

"Ya done?" She asks me unenthused by my sarcasm

"Do Aunt Amy and Uncle Sheldon know yet?" I ask her with a sigh, "or even her parents?"

"No," she tells me with another sigh, "and I don't know bout her parents."

"Things could be worse," I tell her

"How exactly could they be worse?" She asks me flatly

"Y'all could be back 'ere listenin' ta yer parents fight," I tell her as my boss taps me on the shoulder to get back to work

"Uncle Billy and Aunt Missy are at the bar fightin?" She asks me

"No," I state to her, "yer parents are, not mine."

"What?!" She starts freaking out, "why?! What happened?"

"Apparently an old friend of uncle Georgie's showed up or somethin," I tell her

"What kinda old friend?" She asks sounding ready to kill

"Don't know," I shrug despite knowing she's unable to see me, "a Veronica somethin' or other-"

"What she want?" She practically snarls out

"From what I've heard," I start to explain as I adjust the phone and start getting people their drinks, "she showed up unannounced hopin' ta talk with Uncle Georgie," I tell her, "here ya go sir-"

"Bout what?" She snaps irritated

"He says donating money to her charity work," I tell her, "but Aunt E thinks the Veronica woman wants more that, cause otherwise she woulda came to the Dr. Tire office, and not their house-"

"How mad is mom?" She asks me

"Uncle Georgie said that Veronica got their address from Na-Na, and just told 'er to go on over to their house," I explain to her

"But why, when it would've been simpler ta got ta one of the stores!" She shouts on outrage, "they're literally all over the place round Texas."

"That was Aunt E's argument as well," I tell her, "then she asked how 'e knew 'er..."

"And?" She asks expectantly

"And it only got worse when 'e told 'er," I explain, "she was really more made that 'e ain't never mention 'er before, than at the fact that they had a past."

"Any other news?" She asks me with a sigh

"Uh..." I say in thought as I pass out finished drinks, "oh! Uncle Barry's been visitin' my aunt Bobbi at her law firm a lot recently-"

"Define recently," she tells me, "I've only been gone half a week."

"I don't know," I sigh out, "three day," I guess, "maybe more," I add in, "Tilly didn't gimme an exact number of how many times 'e's stopped by, nor did she go inta details-they could be seein' each other-"
