Hi everyone! My name is historylover18 and this is my first piece of actual fiction called "Adventures of a Nerdy Girl". I am known as a fan fiction writer for Fairy Tail but I decided to try my hand on something new. This is a story of a girl who is a nerd and when she dreams, she dreams of adventures she has always wanted to have with her favorite fictional characters. Like always, I will give credit to those authors/artists who helped inspire me to write this story and whose characters have changed my life forever. I hope you enjoy it and like always, please comment and vote. Thank you for reading!!

Dreams are mysterious things. They can either be good or bad. They draw you into yourself and take a hold of your soul but they always seem to end and you end up back in reality as if it never happened. But what if your dreams could become you reality? What if it was like a never-ending dream full of adventure and romance, danger and distress. How would it affect your life and would you choose to leave if you could?
To many this would seem absolutely absurd. Dreams like that cannot become reality. The only way your dreams could become reality is if you worked hard to achieve them and even then there would be a slim chance that some of them might come true. A girl long ago once believed this as well with all her heart. Her past had made her this way. She had known the pain of poverty all her life and sometimes like Cinderella, dreamed for a fairy tale ending but it never came. She was an honors student, someone who everyone wanted to be but she wished that she had a home to call her own. Life made it hard to wish for things that the girl had only read about. She had been made fun of for the color of her skin and who she was inside. She was a nerd and worked hard every day in order to get herself and her family out of the bad situations that they were in.
To society, she was an enigma, someone who wanted to succeed no matter what life threw her way, which most of the time, was a lot. She knew that she was beautiful inside and out but she never really thought others would see her that way. She had kept herself strong for so long for the ones she loved that she forgot what it meant to tear her barriers down and let someone care about her other than her family. She was afraid that if she let them inside her heart, they would leave her. She was afraid that her past would destroy any happiness that she had so she hid it from the world.
To her friends, she was always the one who they could come to for advice. She always cared about her friends. Her friends and family meant the world to her and she would do anything for them. She would give hugs to anyone who needed one and she always had a smile on her face. She was always the first to give a helping hand to those who needed it even if she was the one who needed the most help. She didn't want the outside world, especially guys that she liked, to see how hard her life was because she afraid that if they saw her hurting, they would leave her. It was through loving her friends and family that she found strength to keep on fighting.
She had always loved going to church. It was the one place, outside of school and home, where she felt like she could be herself. It was a place where she could go and release the stress of her life to someone who she knew loved her. This love would never end. He would always be there for he, in the good times and in the bad. She was afraid that if he knew the truth about her past that he would leave her, liked she had feared with her friends. The strange thing about him was that even though he had known about her past, he still loved her. It was this love that changed her forever because it showed her that no matter how dark her past was, there was always hope for a brighter tomorrow.
When she wasn’t at school or at church, the only escape the girl had from the bleak reality that plagued her was reading. It did not matter if it was fantasy, historical fiction, or even her guilty pleasure manga; it was within these pages where she felt truly at peace with herself. There were no pressures to be perfect for the outside world; she knew already that was impossible. She was free from everything that life threw her way, at least for a little bit. The characters in her books that she loved felt like true friends that would never leave her, never judge her. They all had hard pasts but it did not seem to faze them like it did for her. Their pasts had made them stronger. They fought for what they believed was right even if there was no way they could win. She always worried that they would never make it and her hopes would be dashed into darkness never to see the light of day again. The great thing about them was they always managed to pull through, even with some scraps. To her, they were not just characters in books; they were living and breathing people who would always help a friend in trouble no matter what.
She had always wanted to travel to the worlds where her heroes and heroines lived. She wanted to eat with them, camp with them. Laugh with them and cry with them. She wanted to go on adventures with them and fight with them, although she had never fought anyone before. She was willing to die for her friends in real life and her imaginary world of wonder.
It was in her dream world where she could live her life and have her fictional friends alongside her for the ride. Unfortunately whenever the girl woke up, she realized that her adventures she had gone on with her fictional friends were nothing but a dream. Reality had hit her hard in the face. It was in her dream world where the girl truly felt free to be who she was without having her past hinder her or society sneer at her behind her back. She wanted to be free to be who she wanted to be in a world where beauty was only skin deep. Her past did not have to matter in the dream world but it hit her hard in reality. The girl wished with all her heart that her dreams could become her reality.
To many, it would seem as though I have known this girl better than I know myself. In truth that is because we share so many similarities that it would be like I have walked a mile in her shoes. The dreams that this girl had were my dreams; her trials were my trials. Her past was my past. Her dream world would soon become my reality.
My name is Rochelle and this is my story.
