Chapter 1-Shadows

I was taking a walk at night like I normally do. There was nothing really special about this walk except I was listening to one of my favorite bands, Skillet, and their latest album “Rise”. It had just rained so the air was cool and calm for a fall evening. There was hardly any traffic on the streets that night and the lights from the shops glistened like Christmas tree ornaments. The raindrops on the blades of grass that dotted my path twinkled like diamonds in the moonlight. My mind was finally at peace after a long day of studying. I needed this.

 After about 10 or 15 minutes of listening to my music and following my own path, I noticed from the corner of my eye a shadow that almost seemed like it was following me. I turned around to see if I could see who or what was making the shadow, but I saw nothing except my footprints that were left from the puddles that I had stepped into. It must have been all in my head, was the conclusion I came up with. I continued at the pace that I was going when my favorite song “Not Gonna Die” started to play.

Death surrounds

My heartbeat’s slowing down

I won’t take this world’s abuse
