If Love Was Rain

Hakiem's P.O.V

I watched Angie climb out my window and walked across the street to her apartment building. As soon as the door closed behind her I realized that I just couldn't do this shit anymore. Not with her. Danyelle is the love of my life and she is carrying my child.

I picked up the phone and dialed Angela's number. It rang one time before Angie answered cheerfully saying "Kiemy baby I knew you couldn't stay away! I was just writing about you. "

"Look Ang," I said sternly,  "I'm not going to the movies with you tomorrow. My wifey has an appointment and I'm going with her.

"Wifey?" she growled. "That's who I am Hakiem. That's me. I'm crazy about you. "

"No you are not Angela damn!" I said boldly but quiet enough for Danyelle not to hear. "You never were wifey you were just a pretty piece of ass that I knew would get my dick wet for the cam. Silly broad. I got my girl."

"What's her name Hakiem?" Angie said through clenched teeth.

"None of your business Ang. Bye." Before she got to say anything else I ended the call and turned off my phone. Then I crawled on the couch with my baby fell asleep. Finally, my cramped little apartment felt like home.

The Next Morning - Danyelle's P.O.V

"Hakiem get off." I said. "I'm hungry and I have to pee. Kiem get up. Oh my god Hakiem! " After I while of pushing and yelling Hakiem finally got off of me. I walk to the bathroom and took a long, good piss, then I got undressed and opened the shower curtain. I climbed in the shower and turned the water to the coldest setting to wake me up. The cold water beat down on my body kind of like the rain did the night before. Only this rain was happier,  though it was freezing it felt warmer, and I was more comfortable in it's rhythm because I was safe in this rain. I was protected by my love, Hakiem. If his love was rain I would choose floods over suns. I'd rather be forever drenched in his beauty then feel the a cool breeze of a summer morning rush against my skin. Ah, shower thoughts. I turned the shower back to a warm setting then I washed my body clean and hopped out. After throwing on some of Hakiem's clothes, I walked towards the kitchen.

"Baby!" I yelled, jolting him out of his sleep.

"Why are you damn loud girl?" He laughed, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.

"You want some breakfast, love?" I asked as I walked towards him.

"No baby sit down I'll make you breakfast" he insisted as he began to sit up.

Before he got to stand I push him back on to the couch and said, "Kiem I got you. I just want to thank you for all you do for me. I love you so much, so sit that fine ass down and let me cater to you boy!" Then I kissed him on his cheek and got to cooking. Bacon, eggs, waffles, grits; smells way better than a cheap Coney Island breakfast.

For a high school student leaving on his own Hakiem has it made. He still is living off the money his mom and dad left him when they died ten years ago. He used to care for his grandmother but after she died two years ago he had nowhere else to go. So he ran away from foster care and got his own.  That's one of the reasons why I love him. But I just don't know if he can support two people with that inheritance and  part time checks from the mechanic shop. I guess will cross that bridge when we come to it. After the food was done I made two plates for Hakiem and I.

"Sit up Kiem and eat up" I sang as I handed him his plate and then I sat down with mine.

"This is good Danni! I didn't know you could cook." he said as he pecked my lips and rubbed my stomach. "We get to see what our baby looks like today."

"You're coming?" I asked, "I thought you had something to do."

"Nothing is more important than my child" he said happily.

"Okay but my friend texted me last night begging to go. She's never met you and she doesn't even know who you are, so I figured now is the best time for you two to meet. That's cool?"

"Yeah" he said with a mouthful of grits, "What's her name?"

"Angela Rodriguez, but everyone calls her Ang. She's crazy. But in a good way." I laughed.

Hakiem turned a bright red.

"I know you don't like crazy so I'll tell her to calm down for you. But the good thing is we can all ride together because her apartment complex is right across the street....." Then I just went on and on until I checked my phone and it was 1:30.

"Uh oh. We're gonna be late Kiem let's go! We gotta pick up Angie"
